Has anyone actually had claim issues with Maxcare and Bilsteins set at 2.8?

I’m aware of the small print / max limit 2.0.

Opinions are apreciated but I’m primarily asking those who have actually had any issues with this setup and Maxcare claims.

I’m not in the middle of nor am I anticipating a claim. I’m simply looking for real world experiences with this.

I would think increased tire size would be more of an issue

Fortunately I run stock size AT’s. I purchased Maxcare yesterday. I learned about the max lift limit today. The plan will be processed tomorrow, and I have up to 60 days to cancel. I have an excellent relationship with my service department. I will be going by there in the morning to ask the same question.

If 2.8 will void the entire plan or drive train portion then I’ll drop it to 1.7, reinstall factory UCA’s, and remove the rear spacers. If it only voids the struts, control arms, and ball joints I’ll be ok since I can do that work myself. My main concern for having the plan is for drive train and electric components.

I have max care and the 3” rough country, I’m going to switch to the Eibach and leave them at 2.75. Also going to leave my RC front UCA”s and the 1” spacer in the rear, just going to pull the stupid spacer out of the front. I really haven’t been to worried about my max care because it shouldn’t void the whole thing, just the parts associated with it. if there is a problem, and at that point I would look to Rough country to pony up as they have a warranty that does just that “ covers parts” that their components have ruined.

That’s exactly what I’m hoping to hear from my service department. If it only voids the parts themselves I’ll be fine with that.

My only thought would be them saying that the front axle shafts are being stressed at the severe angle ( and rear driveshaft)??????

Wouldn’t expensive items like transfer case and/or transmission replacement require FCA approval so really it doesn’t matter “how cool” the dealership is FCA could still deny the claim due to larger heavy wheels or tires?

I asked the vendor about tire size and he said you can only go up 1 size bigger than stock and 2” lift

I just spoke with my service department. They verified I’m good to go. Of course the bills and UCA’s are on me, and any problems they may cause in the future. My truck is a highway crawler so we don’t foresee any issues with exceeding pinion angle or any others things of that nature, since I don’t off-road. They also reassured it wouldn’t effect my drivetrain or any other part of my maxcare plan. They went on to say they get lifted trucks all the time utilizing maxcare for all sorts of stuff unrelated to their lift with no claim issues, and that maxcare was great to have and not to worry.

So, it looks like I’ll be driving the pants off my RAM with my unlimited mileage plan till 30 July 2023!!

I’m on stock rims and OEM size AT’s so no issues there.

I would think having a good relationship with your service department, whom may also have a good relationship with their FCA agents, would matter. Although a few people hop on to the forums to ***** and complain about their claims experience doesn’t mean thousands of other people making the same claims are getting denied. Hints why I went straight to my department to ask these specific questions. My advisor and department manager literally chuckled at my 2.8 lift, while pointing outside to their RAM’s with 6” lifts on 37’s. They literally said “unless you come in here with something bigger than that you won’t have any issues”.

Just be aware, that sometime FCA requires the local dealer to submit pictures...

I had an issue where my drivers side mirror wasn't heating up enough (was significantly cooler than the passenger side), in order for FCA to cover it, they had to submit multiple angle pictures. The dealer told me to remove my blind spot mirror before they took the pictures, because they were worried about being denied.

I thought to myself, really, FCA could deny a mirror replacement where the original wouldn't heat up properly, because somehow a stick on Wadestar blind spot mirror was the issue?

They didn't say that FCA would 100% deny because of the mirrors, but said with their experience it was better that I removed it for the pictures...

Just be aware, as stated, sometimes it is out of the hands of the local dealership. It also seems like with these Maxcare plans FCA wants to error on the side of denying coverage.

I appreciate the heads up. I really like my dealer because they’ve looked out for me much like yours does you. They’ve given me a good sense of assurance that I’ll be fine. I expect anything associated with my Bils and UCA’s will be on me. My main concern was everything else. They laid it out for me so there won’t be any surprises.
