MDS Delete Process

Anyone have any idea the process and parts that are NEEDED to delete the mds cheaply while still allowing it to run? Trying not to replace the cams or rockers, would like to just unplug them. Would that work?

Why do you want to delete MDS? I know many think that is the cause of Lifter failure but that is false and been proven.

So engines that are manual having the same lifter failure with no MDS is wrong? Do some research.

I've no problem with MDS, but to each their own.

I said MDS was , Not that it caused lifter failure. and if you took 1/2 a second to read my sig line would would see i did quite a bit of research.

Whats next your gonna tell me 5w20 is good oil and not to service the trans either.. lol...

That word was edited out so i didnt know what you said. Your sig is too long. I dont normally read those anyways. 5W20 works fine for me. Its what the specs call for.

MDS does not cause lifter failure on 3rd gen rams as 3rd gen rams DO NOT have the same lifter issues as a 4th gen. Mds just makes the truck drive like **** if you buy a tuner you can tune it out If you un plug the solenoids check engine light will come on and it may still try to cut the fuel to those cylinders you would have to just try it,

I have to ask ..

IF, you dropped 1 selection on the steering wheel buttons, on the right side.
Is it changing a gear, or just cutting out MDS ??

I can tell you that when i still had my old HEMI Powered 2009 Dodge Ram, i dropped a selection or used Tow Haul while driving in towns & used MDS while driving on the Highways.
I know that truck had a 5 speed transmission
& the 2013 Rams have the 8 speed
But i always wondered, are you changing a gear in the transmission or just deselecting MDS

I always thought of using MDS, like using Over Drive in cars like my Mothers 1952 Ford Station Wagon. You just pulled out a device, that looked like a Choke, i don't know how Over Drive functioned either

So now that you've gotten the retard discussion starting to go sharply off topic.....
There is a difference between DELETE and DISABLE, beyond them being, you know, two very different words. This statement right here "Trying not to replace the cams or rockers" tells me you have no idea what you're doing (only 1 cam and rockers have nothing to do with it). So:
Disable - easy & cheap. Get a tuner, you can even find an old Superchips tuner (make sure it's unmarried) and simply turn it off. No muss, no fuss. Default mechanical position for MDS is 'off' and it will run with all eight cylinders all the time.
Delete - the harder, more expensive route. To truly delete MDS from your engine, you will at minimum have to pull the heads (requiring gaskets & bolts), swap out non-MDS lifters, remove the solenoids (not a requirement once the lifters are gone but this is delete) & replace with block plugs. As the cams are physically different between MDS & non-MDS engines, your stock MDS cam may not like all non-MDS lifters and you'll have to swap cams as well, which requires a whole lot more work, parts & expense. In the end you will STILL have to get a tuner to turn it off in the tune.
