I have a 3.6L Ram 1500. I don't believe the 3.6 L has the MDS, only the Hemi does. If the 3.6 does have the MDS, I'm stumped for I can't find any evidence that my 3.6 Pentastar has this technology.

Can someone confirm if the 3.6 Pentastars do or don't have the MDS technology.

The 3.6L Pentastar does not have any MDS system to my knowledge, only the Hemi V8s got that "feature."

The V6 may have an ECO mode, but it does not include a MDS feature.

I know, necroposting, but just in case someone else gets curious:

In case someone asks (hey, I was curious too!), the 3.6 does not (err, yet) have MDS, but it was planned for when they built the engine: https://www.pentastars.com/engines/tech.php

Money quote:
Chrysler wrote that: “The new Phoenix of V-6 engines will feature cylinder deactivation (MDS)...the engine will operate efficiently on three cylinders when less power is needed, and in V-6 mode when more power is needed. This optimizes fuel economy when V-6 power is not required – without sacrificing vehicle performance or capability."

If I am not mistaken, the pstar was also designed for an easily added turbo during production.

I have read multiple places it was designed for turbos or superchargers. They talked like they designed it so that they could go any direction they wanted to go with it in the future.

Whether they will actually do it is another question. We shall see, now that the Hemi and Pentastar designs are starting to get a little aged.

Late to the party here but still unsure. I have a 2013 1500 SLT 3.6 V6 FFV 24-Valve VVT engine with 158,000 miles. Never had a green ECO light come on in dash for my 12 years of driving. Recently had right valve cover rocker arms and tappets replaced. Gave truck to Grandson and it now comes on and off. Maybe light turned off from factory? Different driving habits now? Does it actually shut down cyls like the V8s? Thx for any help.
