Well that makes me feel better now. Other people have the same thing happening. And I actually turned the eco light off because it annoyed me going down the highway turning in and off every few seconds

So what you're saying is the Eco light being on only means that it has the ability to shut down half the motor if it sees fit. Here I thought my mds was smoothest thing ever, out of all the times that my Eco light is on there's only a few times that you actually notice it.

No what I'm saying is that the eco light and MDS are completely independent. MDS will do its own thing regardless of the eco light state.

I think the eco light is just indicating you are driving in an economical manner at the time.

this right there, the "tree hugger" light as i call it, just shows you when you are being kind to mother nature with your driving habits

As a few have already said, the ECO light and MDS are independent from each other. Some here say that they can tell by the sound of their exhaust when MDS is on or off, but damned if I can.

I have a hard time believing a simple muffler swap loses any noticeable power.
All the pressure is within the manifold and pipes. The mufflers the last thing at the end if the line and is basically vented immediately.
I work with pressures for a living and cant see how the pressure loss 15 ft from the header would affect power.

BTW.. when my mds was working it ran up until 70 mph if you're light on the throttle pressure.

eco light just indicates you are driving efficiently. meds may or may not be active at the same time the light is on.

I will say that with the muffler swap my truck seems to want to chirp the tires when it shifts now if your above 3/4 throttle. It wouldn't do that before with the factory muffler. I can see where the restriction is reduced because I went from a 2 chamber factory muffler to a straight through muffler.

Balding tires?? :)

I could maybe agree that a muffler MAY free up some power (not significant) but can't see it losing power.

There's no back pressure on open headers at NHRA races

With those vehicles being tuned different too. If I had a tune put on I would probably see a little low end back. But I don't plan on tuning till I get my cai and headers on

Is there any sensor that picks up exhaust pressure? Would a tune matter?

All things tune related are intake based (compression, firing and airflow)

Maybe there is somewhere, but on the exhaust stroke all i can think is 02 downstream reading, which again will affect fueling. But nothing pressure related. Not an issue on most drag cars.
I could be wrong.

Or dropping 100 lbs worth of OEM boat anchor previously located right over the rear wheels?

In theory reduced exhaust pressure enhances air flow through the entire system. That's why headers make a big difference. Removing a restriction of a muffler helps too. Hence open headers on drag cars. So theoretically my vehicle is designed for peak efficiency with the factory muffler and now that that's changed I'm not running at peak efficiency anymore. Would need to be tuned for increased air flow. One of the downfalls to a map system over a maf system is it can't accurately adjust without being told to adjust where a maf can adjust on its own. It's not entirely pressure related. In my opinion.

Funny part is that boat anchor is not under the bed anymore but in the bed... deciding wether to junk it or sell it...

Put a line on it and use it underfoot to hold your boat's position while casting. :roflsquared:

With the 3.92's at 73/74 mph 2100 rpm mine never comes on. At 1300 to 1800 it kicks in but I always shut it off as soon as I get in the truck. At 65 mph with it on my truck seems to start searching for gears and my mileage actually goes down. I asked the dealership to turn it off but they said no.
