I am forging my 5.7L Hemi and was wondering if anybody can recommend a good bore gauge and micrometer for measuring bearing clearance. Looks like I'll also need stretch gauge for the connecting rod bolts unless I can get a micrometer that can do both. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

I have always preferred Mitutoyo but some of the other offshore stuff is getting better. For bearing clearance I prefer plastigage, There is no chance that you will make a mistake with a mic when you use plastigage. As simple as a micrometer is, it is also easy to make mistakes with them. Always measure more than once no matter what method you use. Preferably three times.

Also keep an eye on Craig's List and Ebay etc. Bore gauges are really expensive if you want a true automotive bore gauge.
