I had some accessories installed today at the dealership and didn't really look over the new splash guards until I got home. Isn't the factory-installed black plastic trim piece on the wheel well supposed to be removed before installing the splash guard? They didn't remove it and it sure doesn't look right; the splash guards don't follow the contour of the lower fender and leave a 1/4" gap at the bottom.

Pics 1 & 2 are of the installed splash guard (overlapping the plastic trim piece). Pic 3 is of rear wheel
well w/plastic trim piece (for reference).

It appears that they forgot to remove a molded piece that is now sitting below the mud guard.

I only know this because these pieces were returned to me following installation of my molded guards.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Maybe I'll just go outside and do it myself.

Yes, you have to take the spats off before installing the mud guards. It will take you 15 minutes to fix it.

Idiots. Yes those need removed. Do yourself a favor and put some 3m paint protection film or tape under those guards or they will rub right through your paint.

Those scratches in the clear coat are after only 3 weeks.

Thanks for the replies, guys, and I've already rectified the problem. That said, I have to take it back tomorrow because they ordered the wrong rear splash guards (ie, the ones for the fender flares); as such, I preemptively removed the rear trim moldings for them.

Yep. They have variants. Made the dealer add the flares (painted too) to my vehicle when I wanted my splash guards swapped to my replacement vehicle.
