Just got the Mopar remote start in and activated on my '17 Tradesman 3500 6.7 turbo. Not really cold enough to worry about it yet but anyone know if the remote start allow for the pre-heat cycle before cranking the engine?

Yes the Cummins and EcoDiesel both cycle the grid heater/glow plugs when remote starting(this is with the OEM remote start, not sure for aftermarket).
Be sure to use a winter front so the engine heats up quicker.

I'm out here in Kansas and it warms up before starting in the morning since our Temps are cold in the morning. Sometimes it takes 5 secs but like this morning it took about 8 seconds to start

Thanks for the reply. I didn't get the winter front with the truck. The window sticker says it came with it though. :( Do have the block heater. I bought the Mopar remote start hoping that it would function as factory. It required the factory remote start sales code to be activated. Guess we'll see when it gets cold.

how much did that set you back? i've been thinking about getting one installed on my 12

Don't quote me but I'm pretty sure the 2017 it s pretty simple to add because it has the correct RF hub and antenna etc. On a 2012 you would have to add hardware so the cost would be more?

The kit is only for the '17 up. Kit was $240 plus $104 at the dealer to activate the sales code and program the key fobs. There is really very little to the kit. Hood latch with switch, wiring for the hood latch (requires pinning the wire into the BCM connector) and the 2 key fobs.

Answered my own question this morning. 32 degrees and it delayed the start cycle about 10 seconds. :)

Another thing that will happen is that it will close the vanes on the turbo to make the engine warm up quicker. It will sound a little different at idle when it does this. In some cases, it will even idle up at 1,000 rpm automatically to get temps up quick.

Interesting. Didn't notice any difference in sound but wasn't listening for it. I did notice that it did idle up to 1000 rpm on it's own.
