Hi all,

Canadian 2018 ram 5.7 owner

95% sure the head gasket is gone in my truck...white cloudy smoke from tailpipe, misfires, overheating etc.
is moparpartsgiant.com a legit site selling oem mopar parts or is it all aftermarket and just claiming to be mopar. I dont have alot of experince ordering parts as my ram has been pretty reliable up until now. Appreciate any input on this. Thank you.

Yes it is legitimate. Most sites you see similar to that one are actually dealer parts rooms that sell online. I have ordered from them before.

Make sure you get the correct side, too.

Thanks for the input and recommendation. On moparparts giant the engine gasket kit i am attempting to purchase is listed as a replacement kit listed on allmoparparts.com. is this just an older version?

Order from Rock Auto. There are far too many counterfits and bogus sites to keep track. You can order.from Mopar Online in Canada and have it delivered to a nearby dealer for pickup. Thos sites are legit and can save some.money.

I think the kit is legit, it was pricey, though. Also out of stock when I tried to order it. I just ordered most stuff separately, a couple hundred $$ difference in price wasn't that much in relation to the several (6) $K that I spent when my lifters/cam went south.

I did order Fel-Pro intake and valve cover gasket sets, since they were external and easily replaceable if they fail. Any internal stuff was OE, including valve stem seals, though.

Yea. I've ordered thousands of dollars of parts from them.

I got my new OEM EPS rack from them a couple years ago.

It’s been a few years, but I’ve been able to take the online price quotes from these sites into the dealer and have them price match and order.

If you’re ordering from rock auto, order a bunch of stuff. Their shipping has gone through the roof in the past year.

Just literally got off the phone with their customer service, I ordered a radiator and it hasn’t arrived yet. They claimed they didn’t receive it yet but that it’s going to ship tomorrow. I’ll keep you posted.

Depending on your location, sometimes you can save a few $ buying parts in the US and picking them up. Shipping in the US costs pennies compared with up here and is often free.

I'm about 40 minutes North of Ogdensburg and have a NY mailbox.

They also have a Push It North service (ship-to-home), but then you get dinged for import costs and HST.
I rarely spend any additional money on those.

It still might be a consideration for some things.

As someone pointed out, there's several dealer parts depts online. I usually check the part I'm looking for with several of them for price including the shipping, and availability. I also compare to Amazon (yes have even bought OEM parts there) as well as rockauto.com. And then there is ebay of course. Have bought at fair prices there from dealers too. Sometimes can find the same part and price there or Amazon with free shipping when direct from dealer they charge shipping. Go figure.

I learned it pays to shop around to save a boatload of cash, I was surprised how much one mopar dealer wants compared to another
