I have never really posted on here before. I have a magnaflow muffler and CAI and received my custom tune from jay greene yesterday. I went with the tranny tune as well. HOLY cow awsome gains off the line it's incredible burns my 33/12.50 in first gear tell right before the shift then breaks them loose again and just wow. But I will say that I feel like once I hit about 60ish on up it's like there somthing lacking to keep burring the needle. So I'm really looking to improve my top end performance. The orginal idea was just these 3 mods, but after the custome tune i need MORE lol. So now I'm looking for my next upgrade. I really do not want headers just because of the drone I've READ people saying it increases (mabe not?) But I will be upgrading that Restrictive Y pipe under truck this week. So want to get an idea of cost and if anyone can help point me in the right direction. I thought about getting an Efan and 180 tsat

Tell us which transmission and gears you have as well.
More power and not break the bank, sounds like LTs and that Y pipe you are talking about.

I've been doing some studying and gonna put some money to the side and mabe closer to the end of this summer do a cam swap and ported heads. not sure how much just the cam and labour would run me. Let' say my budget would 2k. what you think? and were should i been looking at?

If I'm not mistaken, cams for the Gen 4 are about $800. So if you consider a day labor for just a cam, you're talking $1,500 or more. That's not messing w/heads or any other internals. I haven't looked into cams on these trucks, but have for a previous 300C, so others should be able to comment better, but 2K budget seems really low for cam/head work.

Ah, I think 2K sounds like it should cover for just a cam.

Actually, looking at hhp's site, looks like you're looking at $2,400 in parts for a cam, lifters, spring and retainer kit, head bolts and gaskets, and an email tune

ARH long tubes. They are probably the most expensive but from what everyone says that has installed them they fit better than the others. I think with a tune you can gain about 20-25 hp.

What Pullya said. ARH are considered top of the line. JBA's are much cheaper though and work just as good but generally sounds like the fitment is a bit tighter. I've got the JBA's.

Also, to elaborate on the LT benefit, they noticeably increase power as you climb through the band, which sounds like what you're looking for.

1 3/4 headers would be best but it will not be a wow factor. a gear change would be the biggest difference but pending on year it can be pricey and very hard to do. 3.21 should be outlawed in a truck no matter the trans

from my note 8

Unless you have a 4x4 then a swap wouldn't be that expensive, relativity speaking. If your looking for more "top end" then a 3.55 would be a good choice. You'd have good acceleration and good pull on the top end. If your looking for better acceleration on the low end and a better dig off the line than a 3.92 or even a 4.11 would do a good job.

Talk to greene about the cam, and other upgrades you want to do. Let him know what you are experiencing with the tune. He may be able to tweak it a little through data logging. I wanna say I thought I seen some where he has custom cams he sells or promotes. He’s tuning the truck for you so pick his brain. Keep us posted.

10-4 ima hit him up and see what he says, I did not know he did the cams. Yea I looked into a gear swap a while back, and my truck is 4x4 I'll go talk to this shop who did my last truck who had really good prices for the gear swap he made surprise me again. But if its more than I want to spend at the moment I'll have to stick to the headers for the time being, and add it to my wish list, my wife is still shaken her head at me for as much as I spent on my PCM, TUNER, AND CUSTOM TUNE lol. ill let yall know what jay says.

I'm not an expert on 8 speeds, or anything else, for that matter. I test drove a RCSB with the 8/3.21. It's like the OP said, it'll take off in first, which is super low. But after first, the fun is over. At least that was my impression.

If you're serious about acceleration, until you regear, you're ******* in the wind, because the 3.21s put you at a distinct mechanical DISadvantage.

And yes, 3.21s ought to be illegal.

Probably your cheapest option to re-gear is find a wrecked 2013+ 4X4 with either 3.55's or 3.92's and buy both diffs out of it.The front diff isn't a serviceable diff, you basically swap the whole diff if you want deeper gears.
