I've read the original 2stroke LEDs were rather not great. I've searched high and low, and cannot find any real information from user reviews regarding the 2.0 versions. Does anyone have any insight into them?
I currently have TYC projectors with a 5500k HID setup in them (Morimoto). I've never been particularly pleased with the HIDs in these headlights. They are streaky/shadowy, there is a big gap between the cutoffs that is very noticeable and leaves a massive dark spot between the two hotspots down the road. Since these projectors are designed for halogens (and when I had an issue with my HIDs and put the halogens back in that massive gap was gone), and the 2.0 version of the 2stroke is supposed to more closely align with the halogen bulbs, I'm wondering if it would provide a better output pattern than the HIDs I currently have. The 2.0 are supposed to be designed with halogen projectors in mind, so I'm hoping they have taken care of some of the issues previously noted regarding LED in a halogen projector. I know everyone says you cant beat HID for output, but if you saw mine you would want to try. As long as the LED is better than the halogen bulbs in the same projectors as far as output, I consider it a win.
And before anyone recommends I retrofit the headlights with a different HID projector, I have neither the time nor the inclination to go down that road. I am looking for something I can simply remove my HID and install something else in a few minutes time. I dont want to spend days working on a pair of headlights.
My current thought process is to either get the 2stroke 2.0 for my current projectors, or get the 19 style chrome modifystreet projectors with LED bulbs. That would mean I would have to also get AlphaOBD, and a chord/bluetooth adaptor for my laptop since I have an iphone, so in the end that would be a much more expensive road to go down. I could sell my current projectors to make up some of the cost, but I'm still not sure I want to drop that kind of coin on lights again right now.
