So my truck is 2012 Canadian truck.

I ordered the morimoto lights and they are amazing and bright. BUT, they are always on. The only time I get just the DRL is when I am in Park or Neutral. As soon as i place the vehicle in drive, the headlights are on the whole time, no matter day or night.

Anyway to fix this? Is this just a canadian rule and I am stuck with it like this at all times?

You could try AlfaOBD to change the DRL settings. The only problem is not sure how the truck will react.

What headlights came on the truck originally?

If you are in Canada then you need some sort of drl. I'm not sure if it matters where. If you installed the headlights I believe they came with some sort of fuse tap so the upper and lower led's become your drl's. So technically you could use alfaobd and turn off drl's and still be legal. Or if it needs to be programmed for drl's just move them to fogs if you have them. If you bought a Canadian truck in the states you can use alfaobd and turn off drl's and not worry about it.

Depending on what year truck you have and the wiring set-up on the morimoto's you can add the dedicated drl feed and tie into the drl wires on the headlights and use alfaobd and set drl's to dedicated and should still be legal in Canada

There are some options to change country code at the beginning of the list. My concern with his truck is will it freak out or not turn off the DRL because of other settings.

There could be no consequences changing it but I wouldn't recommend it yet and find out the guys truck is bricked.

Change the DRL to off and wire it up via the US method with the auxiliary harness going to the fuse box. That should make them behave normally. Or reach out to Morimoto and ask them what they think.

I'm betting as the truck sits right now if he doesn't get this right no head lights will come on. From his description sounds like the headlights are the current DRL so if that changes how will the headlights function after? Probably just missing info that time will answer but that's the question that would cause me to pause on this.

Does your truck have the auto function headlights?

Yes, my truck does have the auto function option. I do agree that I dont want to make a change that has them not turn on at all...which is why i have dealt with it.

The biggest issue I have is that if I don't turn them ON....then they are in Bright mode with flickering. So I keep them on 100% of the time which they act normal and all is well, but would love the DRL when I am in Drive and not just Park and Nuetral.

Thanks for the advice, I am in Oregon. Sadly I didnt get told it was a Canada truck until I was signing paperwork and they dropped a sheet for me to sign. I knew at that time, my lights were forever screwed. LOL.

I'm in Canada, so a Canadian truck, lol. I've had mine since they released them and my lights operate as stock, drl's on and headlights only come on when dark, thats on auto mode. Otherwise I can control them with the dial just as stock lights were. I plugged them in when I got them and thats how they've always been.

If you had stock projectors this may be true. But with quad beams there were a few things i had to do, on my 14 to make them work properly.. Also a canadian truck. Changing the country code like someone mentioned is necessary to turn them off.

Canadian trucks with non-projector headlights (dual or quad reflectors) utilize the high beam bulb at a reduced brightness as the DRL. This is why your "brights" are on, and they are flickering because the truck is trying to run them at a lower voltage. Your best bet would be to utilize alfaobd to turn off your DRL's, and then use the provided fuse tap to wire in the Morimoto DRL function. Your other option is to turn the headlights on using the headlight switch every single time you drive.

Yes, I have chosen to switch them on everytime I drive. I appreciate the info from you and others. I will look into the alfaobd
