So, in a moment of weakness, I went and bought a 1500 Laramie ecoDiesel today. It has 3.55 final drive.

I'm very much hoping it will outperform the V6 it replaces in towing a 3500lb travel trailer.

Any estimates on what sort of MPG I might see? Obviously, there are factors other than weight here (wind, aerodynamics of the trailer). Just looking for some guesstimates and reassurance that I'm likely better off :)

I've towed a 24' enclosed car hauler empty (3K lbs) and got 16 mpg flat back country roads 60mph with little wind. Same path under high wind conditions, barely got 13 mpg.
The mpg has more to do with the wind as I've towed a 28' enclosed car trailer weighing in at 8K and just squeaked 15 mpg.

The overall towing with the EcoD vs V-6 gasser will be night and day difference. The EcoD doesn't have to rev up as much, the transmission shifts less and is just as quiet towing as it is when your not.

I have a 2016 with the Eco diesel, my computer has been flashed by green diesel, I have 35s and my trailer is about 7600 load and I average around 17mpg @ 60-65 while towing

I got the ecoDiesel because I don't want to have less truck than I need. We're planning on going through high passes on the Rockies and I just can't see the V6 really being great, even with a fairly light trailer. Plus even the small amount of increased fuel efficiency of the diesel is good for me -- I was lucky enough to not have to pay for the diesel option, so I have no $5000 option to recoupe my investment against.

I think the ecoDiesel generates all of its torque at something like 2000rpm versus 5500rpm in the V6?

That is correct, 420 ft/lbs torque @ 2000rpms. Use the Tow/Haul mode, keep the rpms under about 3K and enjoy the travels.

Also fwiw turbos are not affected by altitude like a naturally aspirated motor. I would expect to average 14 to 15 mpg with a TT limiting yourself to 65 mph on the flats.
