Hey guys, I’m new to ram forums, but figured this would be the place to get some help!
I recently purchased a 2009 1500 TRX4. I’m wanting a simple upgrade on the exhaust to actually hear that Hemi, so I figured I’d just change the muffler. Looking at flowmasters especially 40 series or the super 44, but advanced auto parts says that they won’t fit. It’s the TRX4, so it has the factory single exhaust. Any reason I wouldn’t be able to install a super 44 with the 3 inch inlets/outlets? Looking for an inexpensive and simple option that will require minimal modifications.
Thanks!

Look through here for the best sounding for your taste. Almost any aftermarket muffler will require modification unless you are going to get a direct replacement (ie. Mufflex) kit, but that is only magnaflow mufflers not flowmaster. When I had a 40 series put on my old 2003 with a single exhaust it cost about 250 at my local shop including the price of the muffler to cut and weld everything on.

I’m currently waiting for my dual flow master super 44s to come in Friday. Can’t wait to hear them on my truck. Switching from dual 26” magnaflow glasspacks.

You are looking at universal mufflers and not a direct fit system. Basically, if you buy just the universal mufflers they are not a simple "unbolt the old mufflers and bolt-in the new mufflers" task. Any decent exhaust shop, or a person with some fabrication skills, can make the mufflers work. Keep in mind that different mufflers have different inlet and outlet configurations and can be more or less difficult to adapt to the truck. I would recommend stopping by a reputable exhaust shop and talking with them. Most of the time they can adapt an aftermarket muffler into the stock exhaust system for much cheaper than a buying a full aftermarket system.
