Hey all...my wife ordered my Mufflex 18 for my 40th birthday (Thats Love!). Should be here in a few days, just wanted to make sure I have everything before I go ahead with the install...I reviewed probably 100 threads on the subject, just making sure!

Going to order the 3" band clamp for the front...is this what I need?

Will also do high-temp RTV as well to help prevent any leaks. Any other tips before I start turnin' wrenches?

I wouldnt use rtv to join exhaust. They make something called muffler mud if you really wanted something in there. Although I would install it without any of that

That is love! If I'm not mistaken mufflex should come with all the clamps needed. Some cut extra slits in the end of the pipes shorter than how far they slide in, to help with clamping so they don't come loose. I wouldn't use the high temp rtv either will stink, make a mess and won't help the exhaust is slip fit just like the factory and shpuldnt leak if it's clampped good.

By the way the link you posted was to a item in the shopping cart. Links to shopping carts don't work coming form another IP address so none of us can view it. Try posting a link to the direct item.

This is the style camps I'm going to be useing for my muffler build here in a few days they are lap band clamps 6.99 ra from jegs. They will probably require slight modification, if I'm not mistaken the exhaust has alinment tabs that I will have to clearence the clamps and pipes for. I will post a reivew after I get my setup done.

There is no need to buy extra clamps for this kit. The front of the muffler has 1 slit cut into the inlet. To ensure a tight seal, I would just cut 2-3 more slits in there which will allow the pipe to conform over your existing stock pipe that it slides over.

Also, make sure you position the Mufflex clamp at the very front of the muffler inlet. This will ensure a tight seal and save you money by not needed any extra clamps.

Glad I read this first before smearing RTV inside my brand new muffler as the instructions said to do. didn't make much sense to me when using a impact on those clamps.

I ended up hand tightening the bolts...took the advice and cut another slit in the front. Used the included clamp, no leaks and sounds great! Took an hour for me and my son.

Installed it, didn't like how the tips looked so I loosened everything and fixed it. Now I have a very small leak on both exhaust outlet clamps. Thinking of buying new clamps and cutting more slits or just welding it up.

My Install went ok.

THOUGH.....

Now every month I have to retighten them for some reason as my tips keep sliding back and out of the rubber mount. Reagrdless of my tightening.

Kinda annoying, but nothing I cant take care of in the spring when its not too sloppy to lay under the truck. On a side note my truck never leaves the garage so its never really dirty!!
