Personally I prefer them down. Even towing I keep them down. Once in a while when I had my enclosed trailer I'd flip them up depending on where I was going.

I've towed 50,000+ miles with my mirrors down. Tried it a few trips with them up and there wasn't enough difference to warrant the additional wind resistance.

Did you paint the bumpers and grill? What did you use the rust oleum peel stuff? Looks good, I hate chrome but don’t know if I want to use the peel stuff again. (Different vehicle)

The rustoleum stuff I only used on the badges because I'm not sure what direction I want to go with them. I did paint the bumpers myself.

I finally broke down and bought a new muffler. I've wanted to do something with the exhaust system since the day I bought it. But living in an apartment complex I decided to hold off (felt bad enough coming home at midnight with a turbo back straight piped 5.9 cummins for a couple of months) until I could finally get a new place. My fiance and I bought a place in the country, although we do have neighbors I'm not concerned about them.

On my 2015 6.4L hemi I installed the mufflex dd250035 kit. It had a great sound barely any drone. I did remove the resonator also. But wanted to try something different this time. It's not exactly easy to find a 3.5" inlet/outlet muffler, didn't want to step down to a 3", though about going up to a 4" and getting a dpf back kit but didn't want to drop $400+ right now on a exhaust system.

So after some YouTube video searching I decided to give the borla xr-1 40086 a shot. Since no one around here can bend 3.5" pipe that left me with a little problem. Since there is a offset from the inlet side to outlet side on the system I had to find someway of making this. After some pic comparing and photoshops I found some 42 degree bent sections. With a little cutting and welding I should be able to get them to work. 45's looked to be a little to much of a bend. With the muffler, 2- 42* bend pipes and a couple of band clamps to make all this removable It came to just under $250.

Everything should be here Tuesday and hopefully installed by Thursday at the latest, depending on how much of a fight the stock exhaust puts up. With about 3500 miles on my 2015 the exhaust put up a decent fight coming off. Can only imagine what 14300 is going to be like.

Muffler and pipes were delivered today. Won't be able to start until Thursday.

Was able to get the exhaust in. Still need to weld it together. For now it's clamped into place with band clamps.

Stock exhaust no resonator

Borla XR-1 40086 no resonator

On start up the borla is a lot louder. When the idle settles down the borla is still louder. Accelerating you can tell it's there. My only complaint so far is from about 1600-1800 rpm I get a loud drone/resonance in the cab. I only have maybe a 100 miles on it so far. I may try and have it dump over the axle to see if that changes anything. I may end up having to put the resonator back on. But cruising at 60-65 you can't tell it's even there.

A little update. I cut the tail pipe section off that I made when I had removed the resonator. Got rid of 98% of the resonance that I was getting at 1600-1900 rpm.

Can you put up a pic I should be picking up my muffler next week. I was going to take off stock exhaust and have shop re do piping to simulate stock exhaust with out resonator. I was hoping for no drone

It was kinda tough getting good pic's but hopefully these help

This is where I cut the tail pipe section off that I made. This is where the inlet of the resonator would be. I do plan on adding something he to direct the exhaust down more.

Here is the bend I had to make using the 2 42 degree pipes I got from summit racing. Don't mind my "hanger" it's not doing anything right now and have been to lazy to remove it and the clamp. I plan on ordering some weld on hangers.

The inlet side

The inlet side and where it connects to the existing tailpipe are clamped on. The bends are welded and those are welded to the outlet part of the muffler. For temporary hangers I used some galvanized pipe hanger bolted to the clamps and to the existing hangers on the truck

Got ya thanx I saw a vid on u tube where some dude dumped it right after the exhaust. The guy didnt even take it out the back I think I'm a have the shop do same thing u did but have it shoot out the back towards the corner of the bumper.

Why dont u put resonator back would it not help with drone? I loved the s type when I had my 1500 it was mild when I put on a CAI it made it louder then ****.

I will put up some pics

I was going to put the resonator back on if cutting the the tailpipe section off didn't help. But since I don't have anymore drone and it actually sounds better I'm not going to worry about it. Plus I like the look of no tailpipe. I think it looks cleaner

There’s a blacktop badge kit that comes with gloss black ram heads and flat black 2500, Hemi, and 4x4 badges. I think this is the way to go so you don’t have to keep redoing plastidip or rustoleum or whatever. It’s came factory on my truck and I love it, wouldn’t have it any other way. Your truck looks awesome btw!
