I’ve been searching for hours wondering if I’m an idiot or if it’s not possible. I just want to know if the rear seats of a quad cab can fold or not. I’ve seen some do some don’t. I’ve tried it but I can’t get it to budge and I’m wondering if it’s a not equipped issue or a me issue

If the quad cab is like the crew cab it will depend on the trim level of the truck. On the crew cabs the rear seats don’t fold down on BigHorn trims and below. They do fold on the upper level trims. There is a pretty easy mod to make your fixed rear seats fold down. It does require unbolting the rear seats and cutting a section of the steel hook off of the seat backs.

Semi easy mod, you have to undo the rear seat bolts. There are 2 thoughts of the mod
1) spacers to raise up do the hook goes over the hoop bar when the bottom is lifted
2) cut the bottom of the tab

The reason I went with #2 is that the hoop is in the stock location.

my 2014 , and the 2010 I had, both quad cabs, the seats fold up, and there are storage in the floor under the seats, thou the sub woofer is on the rt side if you have the big radio.
The backrests are fixed, I have never bothered changing it.

I think some newer crew cabs have sliders, but I try to stay away from the new ones.
The dealer has one for me and wants my old one , but for some reason they keep talking about money, silly buggers.

What do you consider "upper level trims"? I have Laramie seats in my crew cab, and they don't fold down.

It’s my understanding that on BigHorn and below trim levels the rear seats do not fold down. By fold down I mean if you lift slightly on the lower seat cushion you’ll see the backrest of the seat rise an inch or so. At this point the seat back can be folded down onto the lower seat cushion to allow access to space behind the seat. I can only speculate that not all model years had this feature. There is an easy “hack” or modification that a poster above has shown which allows the seat backs to be folded down. The whole “folded down” term is confusing as the seat backs don’t fold flat for cargo carrying. The seat backs simply fold forward to allow access to the area behind the seat. I have a 2018 BigHorn and used the above modification method #2 to gain this feature. From what I’ve read using method #1 puts added stress on the seat mounting bolts which could break in an accident.
