2015 Ram 2500, new to me. When using the navigation, the bright grey screen is quite blinding at night. We do a lot of "nighttime" driving here in AK in the Fall + Winter. I clicked the display to AUTO, figuring that would make the screen go into night mode with a dark background, no luck.

So then I tried what most old guys do when they have an electronics problem: I asked my "tween" daughter. Even she couldn't figure it out.

Any advice? And thanks in advance!

Make sure your dimmer knob under the headlight switch isn't turned all the way up!!! Roll it back just a tad and see what it does.

Yep. I drive with my dimmer switch rolled all the way down to low when I drive at night.

Stupid question but have gone into your settings in your radio and turned on the day or night setting do it automatically? It turns you navigation screen black when your lights are on. You can also set the brightness levels for day and night there. Mine is fine at night I think.you are just missing something in the settings.

This^

Mine was the same when I first bought it. All it took was a slight dimmer adjustment and it was fine. It was like it was "locked" somehow at the brightest setting until I did that.

That did the trick, thank you.

The settings adjustment on the touchscreen didn't change the map background from grey to black, but the dimmer dial under the light knob sure worked!

Hmm.... If its on auto, the map should change with the headlight switch.

Yup, that's what cured it on mine. Glad you got it sorted out! :)

If the dimmer knob is all the way to the right, it will override and always stay in "day" mode. There is a detent just to the left of full max that will allow the interior lights to be their brightest and allow the screen to dim when it gets dark.

Yea, I meant the dimmer setting in the radio. Sounds like he had his physical dimmer knob locked and he rolled it back a tad. I just wondered if the setting in his radio is off now.
