my pcm is bad on my 07 3500 5.7hemi 2wd auto. I have a 03 1500 5.7hemi 2wd auto. Both have 4 plug pcm. Is it possible to install the 03 1500 pcm into my 07 3500? I assume since it has the same engine, it should be fine. Anybody with experience and/or advice, I would appreciate any and all

Also I read something about the 8th digit of the vin having some type of relevance. Anybody know?

So if they match, should it be compatible?

Not. Even. Close. Your '07 has a CAN bus integrated PCM/TCM along with SKIM. The '03 has a separate PCI bus PCM and TCM and may or may not have SKIM. Even if by chance you plug it in and the engine fires, your transmission won't work (codes, codes and more codes) and it wont' stay running for long because you'll get a SKIM mismatch and it will lock the PCM (then it won't start at all). Do yourself a favor, get the correct one correctly programmed for your truck.

I figured that. Somebody was trying to convince me otherwise and I wasn’t gonna try it until I got a couple opinions. I hate trying to take the cheap Route but unless my trucks running, I have no income. And Lately it’s been one thing after another with this truck. But I woot the correct pcm yesterday. Thanks guys

Won't the skim still be an issue due to a vin mismatch?
Or is that newer models?

I have no idea. As far as the 8th digit of the vin, they match

Not with a properly programmed correct PCM.

Wish my 2016 was that way, only way to have another used PCM work is to have it unlocked.
Gone are the days of buying a used PCM and have the dealer flash the correct VIN into it and it work.

At least from what my dealer has told me and all of my online research has come up with. I have a spare used PCM and would love to just have it flashed to my VIN and skim.

I keep getting the closed loop fueling not achieved codes for bank 1 and 2. Everytime my truck drops off the edge of my driveway, it dies but cranks right back up. When I’m driving, it acts right for a few minutes but sputtered and dies. I shift into neutral and it cranks right back up. Sometimes it even dies when I go to stop at a stop sign or something. I’ve replaced damn near everything on the truck. Could it be due to closed loop fueling code or a ground issue?! I’m lost
