Replacing the stock water heater sized muffler, resonator, and tailpipe on my 04. Thinking of adding just a muffler and turndown. I am contemplating between the dynomax bullet 24222 or 24238 and a chambered muffler. I think the bullet sounds good, but not sure what it would sound like without the pipe. I have searched for about a week and looked at borla, 40 series, flowmaster, etc. but alot of the vids are crap and just can't make up my mind. :killer:

Anyone here run the bullet muffler and no pipe? Will you get a rasp or popping from the chambered muffler?

Thanks!
Mike

Can't post a video now but check out some of the clips in the Sticky section. There is a thread for exhaust clips only

Im running a singlge chamber small muffler with a turn down, if you keep the stock mans and cats it will be loud but tame part throttle. If you go long tubes without cats your gonna have to learn to ease into the throttle and keep it under 2k unless your wanting to be loud.

Thanks guys, there were a couple of short vids in there that were pretty good. I did find a ram hemi on youtube that has the dynomax bullet with tailpipe and that is exactly the sound I want. I may just put the muffler on there for now and when I can, put a new 3" mandrel bent tailpipe. I only drive about 10 miles a day to and from work and its all backroads.

Plan is for pacesetter heades and offroad y but that won't be until this summer.

Mike the sound will change completly when you change the headers, my exhuast went from stock mans, stock cats with a mag y pipe with the single chamber and it sounded good, ballys but not over the top around town. After the pacesetter long tubes and off road y with no cats its ALOT ALOT louder.

^Its hard to find a good exhaust setup that isnt miss leading because of cams. Me, you, Ryan, Jake there are all cammed which make then sound 100 times better with more tone.

Nice inspiration for the OP to cam-it-up. :p

Too late!!!! hahaha! I have been looking at cams as well as heads.....need my headers and Y pipe first plus a number of other mods.

borla sounds nice but pricey.

I am just wanting a temporary fix for now. When the time comes, I will have the exhaust redone after the headers go on.

I'll be the red headed step child...I'm running a 3in SI/SO Cherry Bomb Pro Muffler. A bit more expensive, but my hemi sounds like a big block, deep, aggressive, and minimal drone. I am the onlty person I know running this muffler, with my setup, I get compliments on my exhaust all the time from Chevy, And Ford owners too. Mine is set up like chefred112

All of these sound good. I have never had such an issue on deciding some exhaust. On my old SBC or BBC engines, I have used dynomax or flowmaster but on this hemi, it is a little more of a challenge for me. :)

Well I decided on the Jones Full Boar deflector muffler much like a flowmaster. Thinking about putting a 45 bend on it and have it exit in fron of the rear tire. Maybe add an oval chrome tip on it to go with the black paint and chrome bumpers.

Shall take pics of the install after it gets here.

Fred, was looking back at your pic above and noticed the traction bars. Who makes those and do they help with wheel hop? Thanks!

Received my 3" muffler last night and after looking at it compared to the factory muffler, it is a little larger. I noticed on mine, the stock pipe size narrows down right where the muffler begins. I was going to add an intermediate pipe off the stock Y but I can not find any information on what size to get. It almost looks like 2.75. Found this online but not sure if it is what I need.

Walker 52397 Pipe-Extension (086387523974) | eBay

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!
Mike
