I currently have a 2018 ram 1500 st quad cab v6. It’s time for new tires and I’m in between on what I want to do with either keeping the 17” wheel or going to a 20”. I want it to look tough. I feel like the stock tires are kind of wimpy the more I look at them. There’s a lot of space in the wheel well. If I keep the 17” wheel whats the largest tire I can go with? I’ve seen some say 305/70/17 and I’ve seen 285/70/17. But I’m not sure the 285/70/17 will look much different than my 265/70/17 that are stock. Or do I just go to the 20” wheel and put a meaty tire on. I plan to level the front 2” as well when I put the tires on. Thank you in advance for the help..

I have a 2017 Ram that already had the 20's on it when bought new. I put 22's on it and rode on those for about 2 years , the ride was as great, so I went back to the 20's and Goodyear LS2 274/55/20. much better ride for sure.

You have consider the weight difference.

I imagine the bigger wheels and meatier tires will put more load on that engine. Probably not much more, but something to consider.

Here's my V6 with a 2" level on 17" wheels with 285/70/17 (33") AT tires.

If you want it to look tough and keep that 4x4 look and function, Keep the 17's. I just took 20's off my truck for 17's, and went with a 295/70/17 and it looks way freaking better then oem 20's.

Some at's look as good as mt's w/o the baggage of a mt, BFG comes to mind as one choice there, no noise. I am biased I like bfg's for a long time, but if you see bfg's next to most tires you would understand. There are other similar to bfg as well, coopers or nitto to name 2. After you chose a tire and size you need to consider rating, again the lower the rating the better the drive, but less capable in a true HD application such as towing or wheeling. It just depends how you use your truck.

look at tread difference, those bfg's are an at but looks great over oem.
