ok, so i'm rolling on 35's mounted on 11" wide rims and my truck wanders. i was told that a dual steering stabilizer kit would help so i bought one. i have'nt installed it yet but before i do, did i do right by buying one? what i'm not too sure of is that i ordered one from Rough Country for a 1500. should i have ordered something else? should i have ordered one for a 2500 instead? please drop your 2 cents and help a confused dude out. thanks.

Does it fit the 3" axle tube you should be fine then. The 2500 one I believe is 3.75"

Here is installing the one from Skyjacker that I copied
Tools needed:
1. Pitman arm puller (to remove old stabilizer)
2. Deepwell socket set
3. Torque wrench
4. 3rd hand or C-clamp.

Step 1 - Remove the old stabilizer
Got to use the pitman arm puller here...$9.95 at Harbor Freight Tools
Step 2 - Attach axle bracket to axle on left side of differential using 3.75" u-bolts. Torque to 24 ft. lbs.

Step 3 - Attach one stud and stabilizer to the axle bracket

Step 4 - Attach the other stud and stabilizer to the axle bracket

Step 5 - Pull out the shafts of the stabilizers so that the length is 19" from center-eye to center-eye on each side

Step 6 - Attach brackets to tie rod ends using supplied hardware. Torque to 19 ft. lbs.

Step 7 - Turn steering wheel from left to right to ensure there is no binding or contact.

Step 8 - Clean up, you are done.

The Skyjacker kit was perfect. It was well packaged and very easy to install. The road test revealed a big difference in the way the beast handled, especially when traveling over rough terrain at high speed.

First off , all white body shocks are a waste of money . ALL the same .

A steering stabilizer (real one) limits travel in and out . What you and most fail to see in buying those white body shocks is that they are just shocks . One way travel . A true SS is designed to dampener both ways .

I just spent 350 bucks on a real SS . Duel Bilstien . They are a true SS's not just a shock

Also HBS one of our vendors sells SS stabilizers ... I love them .. takes the stress off the OEM steering box . But they are for SFA trucks .

As for SS .. recommended for 35's or larger tires

to add to that...
also not necessarily a fix for a wandering steering system, more useful for bumpsteer.

and it will not repair a problem that is due to worn or damaged steering components. everything must be in good condition or you are only masking a growing problem.

I dont understand steering stabilizers. All they do is hide problems, seems rather useless to me. I really don't understand why someone would spend $100+ for a dual set-up. Seems even more useless unless you like the look... jmo on them.

You gotta admit they do look pretty cool though.
