my nfab durastep just made it up to alaska yesterday. i'm going to put them on tonight and i'll let you know what i think. i had a jeep before my truck and i had weld on sliders/steps so that was the sturdiness i was looking for and i was sorely disappointed as well. there arent alot but there are some welded one piece steps/running boards out there. its the flimsy hinges that hold them on that worried me.

I love my Westin's. Smittybilt seems to offer a lifetime warranty on their stainless steel ones.

I have raptor wheel to wheel. Whatever brand you are looking at, wheel to wheel make a huge difference: sharp, go the length of the truck, give you rear front bed access. Good luck.

Now that I see that you are looking at raptor series much like mine, I do not recommend them. After installation, they rattled for a few months. The bracket that holds them onto the truck is fairly flimsy, and I found that the bars bend a little too much (I weigh 200 pounds). Not to discourage though, they were cheap, do the trick and look bomb!

I got the Westin Protraxx 5" steps
330 bucks and they're stainless steel with 30* ends and welded caps
3brackets per side
Very nice! I searched for about 3 months until I found the ones I wanted

I went with cheapies $118 shipped, 304SS painted black. They work, installed easy and only deflect very little (6'1" at 200lbs). They are more for my wife who's short as I don't need/like them. But they add alittle protection to the cab and if I mess them up Im not too upset about the cost lol :)

Those look great. Do they deflect at all when you step on them? I hate running boards that bend down like 15deg when you use them. They look sturdy.

Also, are they cab or wheel-wheel length? Can't tell from pic.

They are crew cab length, but also come in Quad Cab and Regular Cab lengths...extremely sturdy - all aluminum...no give at all when I stand on them...my dealer installed them when my truck was brand new...I really like them...my only other option personally would have been the retractable AMP research side steps.

Those look good too. And the price is real nice.
Wonder how long that rubber will hold on...

I have the Raptor 4" wheel to wheel steps in black. I like them. They help my wife and kids get in. They also stop car doors from dinging the body.

That's the main reason for getting some, is the wife and kids.
I have two in baby seats and running boards really help getting the kidos in and out

Well fellas, Ive narrowed it down to two... Unless something else peaks my interest.

Its either gonna be the:
Ionic Gladiators in chrome finish with chrome end caps or
Lund Crossroads in chrome finish.
Both are very similar and price will probably be the deciding factor.
The reason going all chrome is I have chrome bumpers and chrome door handles.
I hope having shiny running boards as well doesn't 'bling' out my truck because im definitely not going for the gaudy blinged out look.

Heres links of each style of running board. Which would yall choose?

I got the Raptors 4in wheel to wheel length. They are great, sturdy enough for my wife and I. Having a step to get in the bed really helps as well.

Good luck on your search!

I had Smittybilt stainless steel, wheel to wheel side steps on my dually for ten years and was very impressed with them. The second mount for the w/w is at the back of the cab. At 210 lbs, getting onto the back of the step getting into the bed probably didn't flex more than a 1/4". Being stainless steel, keeping them clean was never a problem, they just wiped right off. I'm getting exactly the same steps for my new truck.
