I plan to add some lights this Spring when the weather warms up. What kind of beam are you guys using? I was thinking a flood would be better than a spot beam. Thoughts?

I went flood. I'm looking for area lighting, not lighting up down the block. I kinda would prefer if they made a decent 6 led (3 over 3) flood I could upgrade to.

Definitely flood pattern. No need to see a half mile while reversing, better to saturate the area with light right behind and as far to the sides as possible.

Flush mount for the win! And floods for sure.

Nice, where'd you get them? I tried ordering the Rough Country flush LEDs today via eBay and twice, after the order was complete, I had the transaction cancelled because they're out of stock.

Flush mount is really the only way to go to look factory and look 'right' - it's not hard to drill 4 holes and connect the dots with a jig saw.

Old or new.. I did this to my truck when it was new as well as roof lights.

Man up! :)

Just a warning - the lights picture above will not work for flush mount. You'll want a light that had a bezel.

And did you just wired them to the reverse light wiring ? Also did you use a fuse? Again that looks great!!

You can...and no you don't NEED a fuse but you can use one if you want.

If you were to only wire them into the reverse lights, don't use a fuse. That circuit is already protected. Another fuse also adds one more (at minimum) failure point exposed to the elements, even if it's a "waterproof" fuse holder.

Also did you wire each light to each side reverse or do both reverse tail light all tied to one

tie into one side, again, the less places for water to penetrate the better. Be careful of your routing, (spare tire and lowering linkage, hot exhaust, etc...), use loom and secure the wiring in place well.

Edit: tie in behind one of the taillights, your connection is reasonably tucked up into the body and protected there.

I wouldn't recommend tying them into the reverse lights. You don't necessarily want them coming on all the time. In a crowded parking lot at night for example as LED pods are far too bright and you'll be blinding other drivers. You're better off having them on a separate switch inside the cab in my opinion. Then they can also be used as cargo/load lights if you're looking up a trailer or doing something behind the truck in the dark.

Mine come on all the time in crowded parking lots. They're not cubes though, they are flush mount and they are in the "diffused" pattern. Not super bright at any distance, just spreads a nice big pool behind the truck.

I have mine wired so there's a switch inside to turn them off at my leisure. :)

I drilled holes into the hitch receiver frame and bolted the lights up there. If I could do it over, I'd do the corner bracket like others in this thread have done. That way they'd be straight, and I'd get a little more output. Wish I had thought of that! Lol

This is the method I did and I love it. I would not change it. I think I get pretty good light output where I want it.
