Most all of these companies are international today. Our Rams, and even Tundras are assembled in the US. So US workers are getting paid to build them. Yes - some of the profit goes overseas, but there is no real way to avoid that these days. (With the possible exception of Tesla??) Some BMWs are built in South Carolina, and lots of Hondas are built in Kentucky.

GM is an American company still, but last I knew, much of their profit is going to China to invest in plants to build cars there for the Chinese market.

I have given up worrying too much about where the companies are headquartered, but I still do prefer to buy something assembled here, I would rather see the money go to the workers, the CEO's don't need my money.

Over the years I noticed that GM will have a team of the planet's best engineers design a vehicle to perform and last forever. When the engineers are done a team of Ivy league accountants with MBAs will review the design and make small changes to save $0.64 per unit and allow the vehicle to self destruct within 5 years. In the 80's my wife bought an Oldsmobile that did not have paint on the dipstick tube and freeze plugs so the rusted out. No drain holes in the frame- rust, cruise control module full of plastic gears. The list goes on. Had numerous company cars from GM that were the same.
It's the new normal but the only way companies can stay in business today. People won't pay for the cost of quality and reliability. Quality and reliability are not free.

And the $ goes to Japan............Just saying.

To each their own...... :33:

I say this as someone who's never bought a foreign car while living in the US: I'm much more concerned with the money the workers and local economy get than what the boardroom execs get paid. If you want some of the Toyota profit money, buy TM. It's their stock ticker.

Especially post-NAFTA, buying domestic doesn't mean as much as it did.

If you think you're trading out to something better, you're just trading out inherent issues for someone else's that all vehicles come with.
Even Toyota's today don't come perfect anymore.

Well, we made the list - at least now we know! ;)

There are lots of lists like that. When I was buying my Ram lots of concerned friends and family tried to caution me with such listings. I was able to find an equal or more listings showing Ram to be above average and making the top listings. It is all about the filters your internet search engine uses.

Absolutely. Such lists should always be taken with a grain of salt. I meant the posting as more of a tongue in cheek thing based on how this thread has developed.

You are right, some are assembled in Mexico. I'm not sure of the mix. I do know that my 2017, and my 2025 were assembled in the US.

I prepared a report on the biased results of many search engines, years ago.

Most are politically biased to display specific results. You are aware of this, but many have no idea how far this bias can influence the search results.

Omission of opposing viewpoints and jaded results like the Ram truck bias are usual.

For instance, during the peak of the Covid scam, specific searches on Google would conveniently omit opposing results that could easily found on Duck Duck Go and other search engines that weren't politically biased.

I refuse to be manipulated by Google.
If someone thinks this is a conspiracy theory, test it for yourself.

Search for a controversial subject matter and compare the results to Duck Duck Go.

So, what about the Italians?
Fix It Again Tony......Yeah you got me there....LOL

I have never owned a furrin car. Or a front wheel drive or anything less than a V8 and mostly 4X4s. At 78 I am still changing my own oil. Guess I am stuck in the good old days.

As long as I don't see KIA or Datsun ( yes no more) sitting in my driveway. I will be a happy camper. MERICA.

I have a Made in USA sticker affixed to my driver side cab door. Not sure if that means the Truck was made in the USA, or the door, or just the sticker. :wtf2:

Funnily, the Camry/Avalon (Toyota) are made in Georgetown, Kentucky. Yes, Japanese steel is delivered to the facility in mult-ton rolls, and roll out as new cars on the other end.
Interestingly, those poor (demographically speaking) Appalachian folks love working in the facility.
They have onsite free to the employee childcare, medical care, among many other bennies. I watched a documentary about Toyota and their work ethic/ employee framework. Not one of the many employees interviewed said they could have gotten a better job anywhere else in their community (blue collar).

Knowing history, I find it very interesting that when we, the USA, occupied Italy, Germany, and Japan after WW2, because we had toppled their governments, we wrote their constitutions. Crazy thing was, the workers' rights written into those constitutions were far better than we had here at home.

Don't get me wrong, but My last new truck (F-150) wasn't made here; it was made in Mexico. And that stood to reason because it ran way better when jalapeno sauce was put in the tank! ;) OOH RAH!
