Just picked up a 2012 2500 to do a little towing. One owner with 220k.

Anyone have any information on the emissions components. I've heard and read that people have nothing but problems, and people have zero problems. The previous owner told me its all factory original and its never had any issues, but at that mileage I'd be interested in replacing, repairing, or deleting if necessary. Is there a way to test either system? I got the truck cheap enough I'm not afraid to put some thousands into the truck to get things taken care of for the foreseeable future.

I understand there are 2 fuel filters. One under the hood on the drivers side of the engine and one toward the back by the fuel tank. I can find the front one, but not the rear one online.

I've read about deletes of the DPF and EGR. I did some searching and found "kits" for around 1200 bucks. Is that reasonable? What about installing it? I'm comfortable working on a vehicle however I'm also prolifically lazy and if installs for that type of work are reasonably priced I'll just pay to have it done. Is it even really necessary? My only concern is the turbo and soot being blown through it. I've not priced a turbo however I'm sure a replacement isn't cheap.

Anything else worth looking at before this thing gets working this spring and leaves me stranded because of something I just wasn't aware of?

Thanks. I don't have any pictures or I'd post them for you. Just imagine a dark cherry red color with normal farm truck damage. Scuffs, dings, general signs of use. It does need a tailgate as the last owner smashed the crud out of it. However I'm not that hard up for one yet.
