I purchased a leftover 2016 that had been on the lot for about 10 months. No issues

My 2500 had about 8 months between production date and my pick up date. no issues. Just pre-emptively changed the battery due to California heat, being over 3 years since put in service, and a long trip coming up.

When i bought my 1500 silverado new in 15, i bought it in may or June. And the dealer got it in September or November i believe.
No issues. I'd even buy a new/leftover 16 now if i was looking and the deal was excellent without concern. I may require them to change the oil due to time, but beyond that, id have no concerns. The warranty period does not begin until the unit goes into service, so no issues there either. Good luck!

Mine sat for 11 months and I’ve had no issues. I did make them clay bar and buff the paint before sealing. Also had them change the oil and check the battery.

I would be more worried about scratches and dents from being moved around the lot and people squeezing between trucks walking the lot. I would look for scuffs or stains inside from porters and test drives. I wouldn't worry about other issues if it checks out ok and test drives fine.

It's a nice truck, and the 11k in discounts on the Laramie put it in my price range, but it has a sunroof, and the lower headliner makes my almost bald head rub on the ceiling....
I had hoped the seats would lower enough that it wouldn't be an issue.

I hate sunroofs....

I got 12k off on a 18 Laramie 4x4 2500. They can do better.

I just got my 2017 1500 Ecodiesel last week...but it wasn't sitting on a dealer lot, it was somewhere else. Something about Dodge pulling them from the market and sitting on to them because of some EPS silliness. My dealership got 15 of them in, all the same options, a few months ago.

...and at $14K off sticker...

I never did get a straight answer why mine sat, but then I really didn't care when the price dropped $16K below sticker.

I bought my 17 new this past June with 3 miles on the odometer. Factory build date was 7/16, so 11 months on the lot. A faded empty coke can was in the bed lol.

The battery was dead and replaced with brand new. I found out after that the bonehead salesman tried to quick jump it with the charger set to 48V... Ended up taking out the battery and two O2 sensors and eventually the passenger cat. Brought it back to the dealer with 300 miles and a flashing check engine light. Blowing black smoke out the tailpipe (unburnt fuel). I still got 16 mpg lol. They fixed all of it and I demanded an oil change due to fuel contamination of the oil.

Been flawless at 14k miles now and 20.6 mpg on evic.

I got my '17 BigHorn QC from a local dealer who traded a truck with a dealer about 50 miles away, because they had one optioned they way we wanted it. That other dealer took delivery in Feb '17, I bought it from the local guy at the end of Sept. It had one door ding, which our dealer fixed up...otherwise, no issues.

Bought a 17 in June and it had set on the lot since November. No issues at all and I got 12k off the sticker.

Check for “lot rot”. Make sure the tires are still round, the brakes are solid, and the battery will hold a charge. Those are really the only three concerns with it sitting for so long.

I just bought my 2017 in December. Six months it sat around. There were a few software updates that the service department had to do, a uconnect update I did, and I had the dealer get me the newest map software that had been released in November. The gas tank was almost empty when I took the test drive so they filled it up with fresh gas, so no worries with old gas. No mechanical or paint issues at all. Love my 1500.
