I just picked up a '14 RC/SB Hemi Black Express 2WD and looking to do some drag racing this summer. My Dad has a stock '09 Challenger R/T and just ordered a '15 Challenger SXT V6 with the Super Track Pack for his daily driver. Anyways, I really don't want to loose to the V6 and would like to run with the R/T one day. I only have about $1300-$1500 to blow right now so I was wondering what I should start with? Luckily, all the labour would be free (or maybe a bottle of rye) because my good friend is a certified tech. Great run by the way Matt!

For 1500 I'd do the following:

Diablo in tune with hemifever tune
JBA long tube headers
Vararam intake
Catch can

Thanks! I forgot to mention I have the 3.55 open diff. Should I do the diff first to get the power to the ground?

Gearing or longtubes will eat up that $1500 by themselves. You should get the tuner and vararam, then ssve up for gearing.

Do you have a 6sp or 8sp? I would start off with a Tuner ($449), 3.92 gears ($399), and Limited slip ($599).

That will be right at your $1500 budget and give you the most bang for your buck. If you have a 6sp, your next step would be tq converter or longtubes.

The intake, throttle body, efan, and underdrive pulley are nice upgrades, but your gears, converter, longtubes, and tuning are always going to show the largest gains. Go straight for those 4 big mods right away, and you will be very happy with how your truck responds.

Thanks Matt! It's the six speed. So you would take 3.92s over 4.10s or 4.56s? I couldn't care less about fuel economy, just don't want to loose much drivability. I only drive about 5 miles a day.

The problem with 4.10's or 4.56's is that it would eat up your entire $1500 budget. Factory 4.10 gears are $699, factory limited slip is $599, and then install kit would be $100. That's $1400 just in parts for the gear swap.

4.56's can be done as well, but will require you to machine the rear carrier which runs about $300. If going with 4.56's, you are looking at $900 for machined LSD, $205for gears, and $100 for install kit. That comes to $1200 in parts.

The 3.92's are not much different than the 4.10s, and are half the cost. In the end, its a better bang for your buck. If money is not an issue, then I would go with the factory 4.10 from the start. They are the quietest, easiest to install, and run great in these trucks.

Probably buying 17" tires and 3.92/4.10 would help more than most stuff for some punch.

Cant deny headers and supporting mods though.

And Id REALLY like verification as to what an RCSB actually weighs (2wd or 4wd). Ive seen so many #'s I dunno what to think.

The chart that BRH posted is very accurate. Its right in line with what both my RC/SB 2wd and also my CC/SB 4wd weighed at the track.
