I Love My 2018 RAM 2500HD 4x4 Off Road. 6.4L. USMC (ret)

I didn' know that....well it's no wonder why their oil is one of the few that meets the face spec then. I'd like to switch to valvoline because I like their oil, but I'm scared to do that due to the powertrain warranty and the hemi tick. My truck does not have it so far and I've heard (right or wrong) that if you use oil that does not meet that spec it could cause that tick. I don't know if that's true or not though.

Been using M1 0 wt 40 since new. 7500 mile intervals. At 40k now with no tick. I'm considering going to Redline 5 wt 40. I just wish I could get it locally and not have to order it..

Cummins does the same with Valvoline. They send out bids to oil and lubricant manufacturers for the first fill in their engines and for any other lubricants or greases needed throughout the manufacturing process. They will also recommend whoever wins the bid as an added bonus to get the prices down even lower. Basically they say to the supplier "Our name means a lot, and we will recommend your oil in our engines so you will get more sales to compensate for the deal you are giving us on our oil".

Order it through “nick@gotexhaust” pm him and he will get it to you fast, with free shipping and cheaper that anywhere else. Most All the guys on the syn thread that run redline use him including me.

And no, you will not throw engine lights with 10w40 or 5w40. But im not telling anyone what to do. Its your choice. My trucks hot idle pil pressure is only 1 psi higher with 10w40 vs 0w40. They are both “40’s”.

The reasoning for 5w40 or 10w40 is to use an oil with way less Viscosity Index Improvers. They take the place of quality base stock oil in the blend and 0w40 is FULL of VII’s. Thats why most, not all (ester/pao base stocks shear almost none or literally none in some cases) 0w40’s shear down to a 30W after about 1000 miles. If you tow a lot and your oil temps rise past 220 your 0w40 that already sheared down to a 0w30 is now thinning to 20w or even thinner....
