Yeah, I don't know anything about quality differences between AGM makers and brands. I do know Odyssey and Northstar are best of the best, I guess the prices reflect it. I'm wary of anything not made in US regarding batteries. When Johnson Controls closed the Milwaukee Plant and moved to Mexico, the quality went way downhill, as documented by owner reports. JC makes a lot of brands, I don't know them all. East Penn is still made in US, Duracell, Deka, etc.
interestingly, JC makes the Interstate Costco Batteries. Pretty weird there. 3 year warranty. JC also makes the Walmart AGM batteries (4 year warranty) so yeah its a definite sign that the prices are reflecting that change. Make things cheaper for the consumer, sell more at the risk that they may not be as good of quality. I would like another 10 years out of a battery and i'm in a mild-ish climate in Idaho so I will probably fork out the change for the Odyssey but I'm not going to go up to an H8. I have no need to and 850 CCA is plenty when stock is about 740. FCP Euro has LIFETIME warranty on everything to include batteries. So, fork it out first, save that receipt and then most you'll ever pay again is shipping the old sucker back to prove it failed but they are cool and would work on the consumer to maybe share shipping costs.

Yeah, I don't remember the price difference between the Odyssey H7 & H8, just that I don't have added gizmos such that the H7 is already a great improvement over the factory conventional flooded wet cell regular lead-acid battery. I start faster and better, especially in cold weather. Also takes the parasitic load longer when I drive less often in summer (on motorcycle).

That's good to know. I'm going to go ahead and order the Odyssey H7 and just have that piece of mind going into Winter. who knows when that price will jump too!

As something a future owner can reference for Odyssey batteries, please see this chart it's helpful:

Also, guys hit up FCP Euro if you do want to go the route of a 94R H7 or H8 AGM battery. they have by far the cheapest price and no ****, a LIFETIME warranty. they sell the lifeguard 8 trans fluid too i believe at a lower rate than most others but I don't believe they have the pan/filter or anything else ram related. s*** savings is savings. imagine being at year 5 and it dies and you buy a new one, they will refund the cost of the original against the replacement order when they receive it. Hard to beat that.

Three years and Odyssey is dead.. 10 year old one in my TJ is still going fine . I guess they are not what they used to be so I went with a plain of Walmart H7 AGM People seem to have good luck walking in the door and getting a new free replacement instead of prorated issue. Id rather keep life simple and go with a battery that is readily available any place in America and a lot less. .

I don't disagree.

I went with the H8 upgrade and installed an Interstate AGM a few months back.
I hope it lasts several years.
I will say tough, it's helped with snappier starting, and more so helping my system due to my upgraded audio.
