Saturday morning I got the dreaded click, click, click. Original battery, seven years old. Let it charge overnight but it wouldn't fully charge. Looking around a new H7 149.00-220.00. Looked at H8's and Home Depot popped up. H8 for 119.00 CCA's 950 below 32 degrees, 1150 above 32. With military discount, $107.00. I didn't even know Home Depot sold auto batteries. Nick

I saw them in HD over the summer, and a check in the website now says they are in store for pickup. Looks like a decent deal.

Anyone know who makes them?

Im old and tried all kinds of batteries. So far paying 150 for insterstate is well worth it.

Anything else never last me more than 3 years.

The battery is Exide. Yes, the price is posted online but, I went to the store and picked it off the rack. I always buy batteries in person so I get the youngest one. Nick

I think I only got 2 years out of my OEM battery. At least you got 7. Mine died on me in the grocery store parking lot. Had to call my brother in law to come get me and take me to get a new battery.

7 years is great, got five years out of the original, bout that on the second battery and last year the day before I moved with my Ram towing my Stang on a car trailer the second one died, Walmart was a mile away, I never had an interstate, always thought a battery was a battery, it’s the warranty is where it matters IMHO.

We had a cold snap a couple weeks ago where it stayed below freezing for several days. I went out to start the RAM and at first it seems that the battery had given up. But it finally did start. Battery is 6 years old and I know a quality replacement will be 150+.
Was wondering if this method of rejuvenating a old battery really worked.

My 2014 was still working at 6 years old so I replaced it being that is now my daughters truck . My 2017 lasted 2 years and died so I guess they are not using as good of a battery as they used to . I replaced both with an Enersys Odyssey 94R-850. I have never wore one of these out . I started buying them years ago for winching in Jeeps. A little more money but hard to beat .

Exide isn't highly-rated, Johnson Controls went downhill in a hurry when they moved their factory from Milwaukee to Mexico some years back.

JCI made all sorts of brands, including ACDelco.

The only US-made brands I'm aware of are East Penn (Deka, Duracell), Odyssey, Northstar (X2), Trojan. Everything else has gone downhill. Google reviews.

I bit the bullet and upgraded from wet flooded cell to AGM (Odyssey). Starts quicker, better in the cold. Yes, it's expensive, but supposedly lasts much longer without problems, either. Zero maintenance. No checking water level.

The battery in my '17 lasted me two years. Drove to Orielly's to get it tested after truck struggled to turn on. Sure enough, bad battery. Once the nice carpet cover was off, my battery said " 2013 " on it.

Guess I got a four year old battery in my truck from factory.

That is strange about the 2013. I already turned in my old one, I am curious what numbers would have been on it. I did look at those Odyssey batteries but, mathematically speaking I couldn't justify it. At 3x the cost, I can literally get a new battery every 3 years for a total replacement warranty period of 9 years. I only drive this truck maybe 5k a year. Nick

Odyssey 94r-850 is $259 (just went up, was $229), that's double, not triple a good wet cell.

I upgraded to a H8. That is the Odyssey I compared it to. The best I found that one for was $335. Nick

i got 11 years out of the 2 in my 07. I was leaving the next day for a trip with my buddy and his family and went to advanced Auto and asked for two of your best and she sold me optima batteries, I gulped at the price and I haven't had any problems since. It sucks the OEM quality has gone down because that is what I originally wanted to put back in but it was late on a Friday and didn't have a lot of options.

When you need a battery you need a battery. Always buy the best. You won't miss the money but you do want a powerful cranking battery. I backed my new one-year-old truck out of one garage over to my other garage to hook up my boat. When I tried to restart the truck everything was dead. Had it towed to dealer and they had to put in a new battery. A battery can go bad at any time. When buying a battery look for power and warranty.

Just bought a 2019 Ram 20 months ago and it wouldn't start. because it's under warranty, the entire truck had to be towed to the dealership for a "diagnostic" test. Got picked up this morning. Will update when we find out what it is. Has anyone of you experienced this? With all the bells and whistles these days I think there needs to be a separate battery for the luxury stuff.
