Just purchased a new 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 HD 4x4, crew cab long bed. This is a SLT model with the 5.7l Hemi, also has 5 wheel ready in bed.
I bought this truck because my last truck was a Toyota Tundra with 5.7L (Similar Displacement, similar power numbers) but needed an 8' bed and more payload. The Toyota had awesome power but only weighed 5200 pounds. This new Dodge weighs 8k pounds. Is this going to affect me much?
My towing consist of a 23' Coleman TT that when fully loaded for hunting camp is around 6500 pounds. I really expect no issues and surely don't mind climbing hills running high RPM's. Already excited to have built in break controls on this truck.
(BTW, I would have got the 6.7 cummins, but couldn't justify the extra 7k at the dealership considering the vehicle is 95% daily driver and 5% tow rig)
