I wonder if that 1000hp and 11,500ftlbs is like the Tesla’s “insane” and “ludicrous” modes where the battery lasts a few track passes instead of 300mi normally.

Anti-EV people? I don’t think anyone is really anti-EV a lot of folks just see it for the small market that it is less than 1% of all new cars sold. This thing is cool and all but I bet it will cost $100K and not have a very good range.
I’m not Anti-EV but will play the part.
Cost to operate:
So the batteries on this thing will most like double the standard EV car so it could be $15 (cost of kilowatt) for every 100 miles driven.
Add on about 1500-$2000 for the more efficient 240 home charger. To the price of this beast https://www.edmunds.com/fuel-economy/the-true-cost-of-powering-an-electric-car.htm

Weight: if the battery supplied is double then the weight of this truck could be 4-5 tons. Off roading with a tank can be done, but you “won’t be treading lightly”
Time to recharge could be 12-14 hours on 110 and if you bought the house charging station, then 7-8 hours to completely charge a drained battery. So don’t for get to plug it in every night or every other night depending on the length of your commute or you will have a “new one for the boss” “ I was late because I forgot to charge my truck “

Sound: well it won’t have any unless they take the Raptor technology and pipe an engine sound track in to the speakers.

I can beat on any non PW truck...
But I saw that article a few days ago and I was intrigued. Add a solar panel to the roof to extend the range and maybe you could take it to a remote place with out bringing a generator??

Tesla does 300 miles. Better than our PWs. Good range is relative

I just want to drive a truck our size with 11,500 torque. Gotta pin your ass to the seat like no other. I know what my hellcat did and this TRUCK does it in 0 to 60 in 3 seconds flat with no lag.

You can tow almost anything... for 30 mins or less. Like pizza hut.

No seriously, first thought that came to my mind is the insane amount of strength that the drive line would have to be. Unless they tuned the software to only apply so much throttle to keep from grenading everything. For example hookup the massive camper pull out onto the highway and put it on the floor. Maybe the TCS would be enough. But not if it AWD.

It'll probably have wheel hub motors - which basically means there's nothing to break except the studs that hold the wheel on. If they've done their math correctly then there's nothing to grenade.

It'll be interesting to see what GM does with this. Given their history...I'm not hopeful.

That is the single fugliest thing I have ever seen. Sadly, I have to drive by a Chevy dealer every day, and they have a couple DOZEN of these that have been sitting there since the fall.

The Ford/Ram dealer down the way, however, can't keep trucks on the lot.

I like the option of having a Prius in the glove compartment so you can get home if more than 50 miles from home.

They're claiming a "conservative" range of 400 miles.

My guess is that by conservative, they mean some kind of econo-mode where you can't use a fraction of the available power to get anything approaching that range.

That Prius in the glovebox option that @Jerrybob mentioned, may not be that far off.

How far could this truck tow a loaded horse trailer up a steep 6,000 feet increase of mountain grade in subzero to 4 degree Fahrenheit temperatures with snow on the road? This is the real rural world where ranchers whom provide beef, sheep, and elk meat on the dinner tables throughout the world drive 3/4 and 1 ton pickup trucks. They depend on their 4x4 pickups to live. Tomorrow's forecast near here isn't electric truck friendly...

Grand Mesa, CO Hourly Weather Forecast
29 HIGH PARK ROAD STATION
Tomorrow 02/04
40% / 0.8 in
Variably cloudy with snow showers. High 4F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 40%. Snowfall around one inch.

Tomorrow Night
20% / 0 in
A few clouds from time to time. Low -9F. Winds NNE at 5 to 10 mph.
