Hi there. Just bought a 2011 5.7. Wondering a few things. I need to change front struts and a ball joint. Where’s the best position on this truck to jack up and let suspension sag. I’ve seen people jack up from the cross member and rest stands there.

I also watched a video of a fella who replaced his struts with one tire still on the ground. One side at a time. That’s possible? I guess I’m used to solid axles where to articulate one side the other side needs to be free.

My drive way is a bit sloped so I’d prefer to only do one side at a time.

And in regards to that bottom shock bolt. Wouldn’t it be easiest to remove when everything else is still bolted down? Maybe even with the weight of the vehicle still on ground.

Thanks, glad to own a Ram

Also I’ve read everywhere the lugs are 22. None of my 22s fit. They’re 7/8? Lol. Why is everyone saying 22

And jack up from waaay behind tire basically in the middle of the truck? It flattened out almost at the transmission cross member.

I jacked just infront of the cross member and put one stand on front cross member and one behind the transmission crossmember.

Also I can’t turn the truck off while it’s in neutral? This is normal for these trucks?

I have just jacked from the front and put a jack stand under the cross member.

Yes its normal to not be able to turn the truck of in neutral, it has to be in park.

when you say don't fit do you mean that the 22mm is too small? I have 22 mm socket and I found it fits better than a 7/8" socket.

Is it ideal go jack up from frame behind front tire? And put jack stand on cross member.
You can jack from the the center of the cross member and put the stands on both sides of the cross member if you wanted to lift both wheels in the air. My driveway is also at an angle so i i'll use 2 more jack stands for extra safety that i place on the frame behind the front wheels.
You could also jack from behind the front tire from the frame.
This is how i do it with one tire on the ground for example:

So I took off my side steps because one was dented. My dad was doing the other side and he let it drop onto the ebrake cable. To me it looks like it’s sagging now. But I don’t remember it’s previous position. It’s hanging just barely below the frame at its lowest point

If this isn’t normal can and how do I adjust at the adjuster below the cab? Or do I need to pop the back breaks open and adjust with the spinner
