Hi all. I recently traded my 2013 Ford F-150 for a 2019 Ram 1500 Sport. I only have about 220km on the truck, but so far it’s the most comfortable truck I’ve ever owned (and I’ve owned quite a few). It’s my first Ram.

Congratulations!

What's in the Sport package? A salesperson at a Winnipeg Ram dealer told me that in Canada the Sport comes mechanical features that made it unique from other Rams (though he couldn't tell me what the differences are), whereas in the US it's just an appearance package.

I don’t think there are any major mechanical differences. As far as I can tell the differences are mostly cosmetic. I got the Sport over the Bighorn as I wanted leather bucket seats and the Sport is the lowest trim level that allows for that option

Congratulations on your new truck.

I had several F150's before I got my 2015 Ram. (I now have a 2018.) The last F150 I had was a 2012 XLT. The difference in ride comfort, interior quality, steering response, and quietness was immediately apparent. I'm sure you've noticed these things. But then you start noticing the little stuff--wheel wells have liners in them, the wiper fluid nozzles are on the hood not buried in the cowling where ice/snow can mess them up, there is a handle on the drivers side to assist the driver to get into the cab, turning radius is tighter, the radio is better (I have the 8.4) even the rotary knob shifter beats the clunky space taking shifter arm. And automatic 4 wheel drive. And so on and so forth...

Yes. I had my F150 since late 2012. So many issues. Water pump failure, rear pinion seal leak, ebrake linkages replaced twice, rear defrost didn’t work, air conditioning really weak, rear door often wouldn’t open, tailgate stopped working and needed repair, radiator fan would rage on at random times (even when starting cold)
It never left me walking, but the build quality seemed poor. My business partner bought one about the same time as mine and had major issues. A leaking cab (fixed under warranty) and an electrical gremlin that Ford couldn’t fix. Basically his truck would randomly not start. He had to carry a spare battery around with him.
So far I really like my Ram, but only have 300km on it. I’m hoping the build quality is better (or at least not worse!) than my previous F150

Ram is so much better than Ford. No comparison.

I had good experiences with all my F150's as far as needing service. Of course, I leased and never got above 36,000 miles. I did have one vehicle where the third brake light housing allowed water to enter it. I also had to have my transmission reflashed on another one. But seven F150's over 20 years and not much went wrong with them.
