Greetings all,
Purchased my first Ram last week. I have owned a few trucks in the past but all GM. I was shopping new 2025 Big Horns against new Ford STX models and pulled the trigger on the Ram. It is a 2025 crew cab big horn, 5.7 box, 3.6.
This is my daily driver with the occasional trail ride here and there come the fall and winter. I went with the 3.6 due to fuel efficiency and also the fact that I have not historically had to tow all too much in prior trucks. Seems to me that while too weak for many, the truck really serves its purpose for what I need.
This is a 3.6 with a 3.21 ratio, does have tow/haul mode but no tow package.
I will be pulling a 3x5 uhail enclosed trailer across 6 states (12-15) hour ride mainly flat. The trailer will contain minor household items like book shelf, grill, bike, and end table or two, etc. Similar items loaded in truck bef as well at the same time. No real huge items.
While it will be within weight tolerance, I just wanted to make aure that towing/hauling any additional weight like that for that long is not too much strain on this motor? Anything significant i need to pay attention to as far as temperatures are concerned?
My online reading of this motor is mixed. Some say it's a great motor for its size and can town/haul things like this no problem. Others really discount it over the 2.7 turbo and other competitors.
