So I just got a new Ram 1500 sport 4x4, lifted on 20x37s. Im loving the truck so far, its a straight beast. This is my first ever 4x4, yet alone lifted truck. Im not new to the forum, or Ram trucks, just new to lifted 4x4s. So my question is this. I know the 4x4 and lift and 37s hurt gas milage. I am currently getting about 10.8 average. I pulled the milage my self, I know the evic is off due to the fact that the dealer didnt calibrate for the tires. So, with the calabration off, does it affect the actual gas milage? I would assume not.
So what are you guys doing to help the gas milage? I dont know that a tuner is out for the 14's yet. plus I dont want to void the warrany just yet. Thanks!

Side note, its the 8 speed trans...Im not sure on the gears I will have to get a build sheet for that.
Also I am coming from a 13 ram sport 4x2 with 6 speed 3:92 gears. I got decent milage on that.

If you program the tire size it should show a little bit more MPG. Mostly because if the stock tires go around once just say your truck rolls 10 feet. The axle does one rotation. Now on the 37 you roll say 15 feet. Just throwing out numbers don't know exact. But bigger tire goes farther on one rotation but the axle spins one full rotation. Computer registers one axle rotation on stock tire so thinks you're not going as far as you are.

Right Disturbed, thats why Im not going by the evic, but by pulling the actuall mileage i am going and dividing the gallons of gas by that. Also I used an app that clocks speed and milage traveled, My Mph and actuall miles are off about 11%. So when I divid the milage by gas used, I add 11% to the milage. But maybe the app is off a bit too. Does 10.8 on a three hour trip on 37s seem right? And yes I will be looking into exhaust and intake shortly.

Sorry. Didn't know you were you were using an app. I thought you were going by your odometer and fuel used. I don't know about the 3 hr drive as I'm on 35's. So can't compare to you there. I know 3 hrs pulling my 36' camper I got 9 MPG running till I needed fuel about 3 hrs.

I would get the dealer to update the tire size, I was under the impression that they could??? I say that because I am pretty sure your mileage will be off without it being calibrated...

Yes the mileage is off 11% by my app. In my favor. But I don't want to run it long cause then when I sell the truck I'll feel like I'm cheating someone. I kind of want them to tell me they can't fix it so I'm "forced" to but a tuner and not void my warranty :)
So it seems like that's a good mpg? About 11?

Dealer can't update for anything other than stock sizes. If you don't want to get a tuner use a hyper tech speedo calibrator

Well I do want a tuner, and this may be a way that I can get one and not void my warranty. I have to get them to out in writing that the speedometer is off and they can't fix it though. I wonder if they will do that?
