New Recall for Air Bags,,

Supposedly there is a new recall coming having to do with faulty side air bags. I sincerely hope they deal with this better than they did with the Drag Links..

I saw this the other day too. Luckily my own truck is not on the list.
The trucks affected could be from 2004 to as new as 2010. Some of the trucks are 1500's 2500's, 3500's, 4500's and even 5500's.
There are other years for Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge vehicles that may be affected.

Ram Recalls Faulty Side-Curtain Airbags - Consumer Reports

Consumer Reports shares details of the Ram recall of faulty side-curtain airbags. The airbag inflators may rupture even if the airbag does not deploy, which could send debris into the vehicle’s cabin.

Vehicles recalled: Certain 2015-2020 Ram 3500 and 2500 heavy-duty trucks and chassis vehicles, 2015-2019 Ram 1500 pickup trucks, and 2019-2020 Ram Classic pickup trucks. The current-generation Ram 1500, which debuted as a 2019 model, is not affected.

My 3500 will be on the list when it eventually comes out . We still don't have our lugs checked or replaced due to know parts yet available. I could only imagine how a cp4 recall would go

Dang! I wish mine was on that list. I work on a number of vehicles. Couple things I've noticed about side curtain air bags:

1) They get HOT! You don't think about it, but inside a vehicle, the airbag is about the highest point of truck interior. On a sunny summer day, the metal propellant canisters get so hot you can't hold them. That's always made me wonder if the heat over years degrades the propellant? Could be? So getting new side curtain air bags to me would be a great thing.

2) They can rust - The canisters are not painted (that I've seen), and they can become rusty in an interior that becomes hot [reapeatedly] in high humidity conditions. That's probably the issue with the recall.

Not for me
