stock shocks on my tacoma lasted 12 years. they probably were due for a change at about 10-11 yrs...not sure. I just noticed the front end would dive a bit on some stops and felt it was a hazard on the road like that. I had ambitions to put on bilsteins or something funky but honestly, the suspension would have been worth more than the truck overall (it was a 2003 tacoma that was a writeoff from 85% hail damage but ran so well i bought it back). As it was putting in 4 shocks, 2 coils and some other work that turned out needing to be done (replacement belts and something else..can't recall) was 2600 bucks canadian as it was. that was enough sticker shock right there. never had an issue with the monroes in the 3.5 yrs i drove it after until I sold it.
