I have a 2" level kit and am looking to upgrade my tires and go with a 33" tire on my factory wheels. I considered aftermarket wheels, but have heard mixed reviews on durability, pitting, etc.

My question is how wide can I go? I have a 17" factory wheel and am unsure of the width of the wheel. Please keep in mind this is my everyday daily driver truck, so the most functional and practical of suggestions would be appreciated!

First off welcome to the forum bud. Do you have a size in mind your trying to get besides a tire 33" tall? Also are you wanting an all terrain or a mud tire?

welcome to RF, with the stock 17's you are looking at basically 285 for width, and if you want 33's 285/70/17 is very close to that. now if you aren't worried about running 1/4" spacers you could go with a tire a little wider

Thanks guys. 33" is the size I am 100% sure on. 35's would look even better but it would sacrifice fuel economy more. All Terrain is what they It's a toss-up between Nitto TG, Toyo OC, and MT ATZ. I have heard good stuff about all of them.

I just want something wider than the factory tires. I dont have a specific size in mind as far as width goes. I bought the truck in April of this year with only 12K miles on it, so everything is original, including tires.

285/70/17's will look good compared to what you have now.

I ram Mickey Thompson Baja Claws on my 2008 Ram with stock wheels. I ran 325/50R20's and they looked awesome. I had to run a wheel spacer with them.

On my previous trucks, I was always able to get 33"x12.50 on them with the factory wheels.

And the wheels were only 8 inch width. Looked great. Didn't rub either aside from a hard turn in reverse in a parking lot.

what were your previous trucks...the 02-05's had torsion bars in the front and could fit wider tires on factory wheels than the 06-present trucks

I am running a 295/70/17 right now on my 2011 Ram, which computes out to 33.2 X 12. something.

I don't rub at all. The wheels I bought are the same backspace and offset as the factory 17".
