The Goodyear Wrangler SR-A tires that came on my truck offer a quiet, comfortable ride and are a great highway tire, but the tread depth and design are inadequate for the winter driving conditions we experience here in the mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania. Heavy snow and ice are the order of the day.

With this in mind and considering the fact that it was only in the 30's this morning, I decided it was time to take action so I ordered a set of Mickey Thompson Baja STZ tires this morning.

I'll take some photos after they arrive and I have them installed. :)

Nice choice! Yeah the stock tires don't offer to much when it comes to anything other than highway driving.

Thanks!

I read a good number of reviews on these tires and they were nearly universally positive. Though it's been decades since I bought my last set of MT's, I always had good luck with them in the past so I'm hoping for good things from them. :D

Hmm, The tread pattern doesn't seem to be ideal for snow to me, but perhaps the plethora of tread blocks themselves will make up for this.

Keep us posted as to how they do!

Nearly any tread design would be an improvement over the narrow-gapped, shallow tread, road tires that are on the truck now. Beyond this, the STZ's got decent marks for their snow performance in the reviews I saw.

Are u also replacing the stock rims, or its just a tire replacement. Im not happy with the factory installed tires ( I do like the rims so I want to keep them). Im just thinking I want to get one size up ( meaning one size wider and one size bigger).

My 11 comes with SR-A's, the 08 had HPs. The SRA are HANDS DOWN IMO a better tire everywhere. Havent had them in snow yet, but they cant be worse than the HPS (TERRBLE).

Hoping the SRA's are indeed better. I swapped my HPS ont he 08 yo COOPER ZEONs and I liked them. Don't think id put them on the 11, but Ill choose a dedicated winter set and upgrade to some ******* 22's come spring :)

That sounds like a great idea, but I'm "trying" not to go too crazy with spending money on this truck. In the past, I've spent tens of thousands of dollars building cars for drag racing and I've been doing my best to control the "modding fever" when it comes to the Ram.

Sure, they'd be fine for any pickup truck. I ordered mine from Walmart because they're less than a mile from my home, but I'm having them mounted at my buddy's garage. They were $223 apiece + sales tax with free shipping to the store.

You should be pretty happy. My aunt has them on her Toyota FJ and she likes them. I had some cooper atp's that had very similar thread and they were outstanding, offroad.

Not much snow and ice in middle GA though!
