I was hoping to get another 6 months out of these tires, but I woke up this morning to a flat tire with a huge egg on it. So I might as well pull the trigger.

Anyway, Firestone is running a special starting Thursday. $300 off which includes a $70 mail in rebate.

The tire size is 285 45 R22

The two Firestone tires that fit are Destination A/T2 and the Destination LE3.

The LE3 is closer to what is currently on the truck; basically a street tire.

Do you think I should stick with the street tire, or would the all terrains look good on the truck?

Excuse how dirty the rims and tires are. We've been dealing with a lot of rain lately and I haven't been able to wash the truck.

Don't go for looks!
Go for a tire that suits what you need them for ;)

If you are mostly highway / in-town, then look to a tire that provides excellent wet road traction, dry road grip, and overall great control and feedback.

Michelin Defender LTX's are great for this.

Lol, I have a set of tires on the way, I'm paying $160 more for the set over the ones I had first picked out because these one's look cooler.

So obviously my monkey brain disagrees, but if you live on pavement 100% then yes a highway tire would be the correct choice. Milage, ride quality, longevity, etc.

I made that mistake putting on a set of KO2's for the more aggressive All Terrain look.

Sure they look cool, but eat more fuel, are heavier and can be discernably felt when driving, especially on the highway and smashing the skinny stick lots.

They were darn near impossible to fully balance out, too, and much noisier as well.

I've put a little over 70k miles on my Defenders, but they'll need to be replaced soon. They've done great with my mostly highway driving and some towing. Good wet road traction, too. Much better than the factory Firestones.

When I bought my truck used 14mos ago, it had Nitto Crosstek 2's on it. Unsure of the mileage on the tires, but they have done good for the 10k miles I have put on them so far. I am mostly in town driving, slightly aggressive. They are quiet in town, and on the highway(1700 mile round trip last Xmas). They are an all season and do good in both wet and dry.

☝️This! I went with MD LTX in 305/45r22 when I replaced the original tires. Great ride and enhanced performance, putting those banana-skinned 285’s on these trucks is bizarre in the first place!

I replaced my stock Goodyear SRA tires at 50K km. GIven that I run seperate winter tires on their own rims for almost half the year I didn't get much more than 30K km on the stock tires. I still had about 1/3 the tread left but the rubber was turning hard and the traction in wet weather had dropped way off. The stock Goodyear SRA tires seemed more like a big car tire than a truck tire. They did have a very quiet and smooth ride. I looked at the Michelin tires but the cost was very high. The tire guy told me to try the Nokian HT tires. They are still more of highway tire but he said that he thought that I would like the level of tire noise and wet weather traction. He said try them and after 14 days I could refund them if I didn't like them. Hard to beat a free trial. I ended up getting them and I have found them to be OK. A bit more tire noise than the stock SRA on old pavement but equal on new pavement. The wet weather traction is way higher than the stock tires (not a totally fair test as the stock ones were old and had less tread). The Nokian tires were about 1/3 less than the Michelin ones. These Nokian are a "3 season tire" so not good as a winter tire but not really an issue for me as I have Blizzards I run all winter. I ended up keeping the Nokian tires and don't regret the purchase.

What's your report on the Pirellis you're replacing? Wet/dry handling, wear?
Nice looking tire. Seemed to do well in all weather conditions - though I've never driven in snow.

We get a lot of rain down here, especially during the summer months. Never had issues with slipping and sliding.

I was considering Perrelli Scorpions. Its got Toyo Open Country on it now. There when i purchased in Nov.

Whats everyones take on the performance of these tires?

Im in North Bay and work in Sturgeon Falls. So extreme winter driving a possibility.

I have Perrelli Scorpions on my wife's Range Rover. They've been nice in my experience. I'm guessing we have 25k-30k miles on them? They are quiet on the road and seem to have good traction. I haven't driven her car in bad weather, so I can't really tell you how they do. They have worked well in the rain, though. Her car is supercharged and AWD, and they grip really well on a spirited acceleration. :D Once it's time for a new set, I'll use them again. They haven't given me a reason not to.

Brother, I'm from the Ottawa Valley and know that entire region all to well, and extreme winter weather is always on the menu there ;)

If I may recommend; look into a dedicated set of winter rims and tires.
Blizzak DM-V2's come to mind!

You'll also receive an auto insurance discount as well when you have winter specific tires (the ones with the little winter snowflake thingy on the sidewall of the tire).

Toyo's are great tires in general, but when driving in extreme winter conditions, nothing will serve you better than a dedicated winter tire IMHO.

I have the destination le3 on my truck. I am very pleased with them and they are wearing well. Probably won't last as long as the michelin tires others recommend here but the firestone can be had for a lot less money or at least could when i last bought tires.

I absolutely hated the Pirelli Scorpions on my truck! 3 sets before the balancing issues were resolved. Wet traction was only OK in cold weather. Went with the Falken Wildpeak AT4W. Took a little mileage hit, but very happy overall.
