I second the idea of power steps. Amp Research seems to be the originator, Best Step (?) the imitator. I've yet to read a bad review of either.
I'm a fan simply because they come down and out enough to really be helpful. I find most steps (tube steps etc) to be more in the way than anything, without a real help in step up height.
