I am the proud owner of a new-to-me 2014 RAM 1500 Crew Cab 5.7L HEMI 2WD w/ 15K miles; upgraded from a 2006 RAM 1500 RCSB 3.7L V6 (hellllo hemi) and have a few questions.

New to the truck, not new to the site; so I know the site's position on asking questions prior to researching...but I couldn't find a NEW HEMI OWNER 101 thread anywhere.

What are some things I need to be concerned with on this engine? I've seen some threads about catch-cans (I don't have one) and tuners (don't have one of these either)...aside from a couple documented oil changes, history on the truck is foggy at best so I'm trying to start off my time with the truck on the right foot.

I also plan on joining the ranks of the lifted 2WD guys here in the next couple months, eyeballing the MaxTrac 7" or the CST system and 35s...more to come!

The engine/performance section can answer all of your questions as per nuances about the motor itself

Very nice looking rig. I just dumped my catch can yesterday actually. Surprising how much that thing contained.

Congrats on the Ram! She is a Beaut!

If you are an **** Owner and want to keep everything Clean? The Throttle Body is a great place to start! My first Mod was a BT Catch Can! {There are a few out there to chose from}--> I personally feel it was the best well thought out modification that I have done to date...

Prepare yourself for hundreds of different various Opinions! Get a pad and pencil!

I have really no future plans on performance mods except maybe a Diablo Trinity Tuner with a Hemi Fever Tune to help with Towing & I don't Race or Hot Rod my Ram! So no advice in that direction!

Honestly if I didn't have a tuner I wouldn't have put a catch can on. It's just a pain for me to dump out, I tend to forget lol. Plus mine leaks and it's always covered in oil on the outside, so that's not fun.

Amazing how much oil they collect that would otherwise have gone into the throttle body though.

If you want more power get a Trinity by Diablosport with a Hemifever tune. Makes a nice difference. Then you'll want that catch can lol.

I must be one of the lucky ones! I check mine at least once every 3 months... Especially after our few road trips to see the kids at college... Take me about 3 minutes to empty mine! Before and After the trips... Usually about 1-2 oz of oil... Strange about all the oil residue on the outside of yours... Mine is always clean and dry...

Also, with your lift you're going to want to get a tuner to accommodate the larger tires. You'll be able to adjust the computer for the larger tires with this and gain some performance as well. Most of us are running Diablosport tuners (myself included).

One of the best sources of information is Matt at Moe's Performance. He will answer your questions honestly from experience he has gained using the parts he sells.
