I have been shopping for a few weeks now for a pre owned Ram 2500 diesel. I am new to the diesel market, price increase was a little shocking, but will be towing a travel trailer. I have a few questions, pardon my ignorance, I am looking at a laramie due to the AC seats, I know they dont do much, but I do live in Phx, AZ and any bit of cooling helps. I have been reading the threads on swapping and upgrading. A center console is a must for me as I have kids who will use the rear air and power sources.

I am having a tough time buying a truck with 100k miles, i understand thats not much for the diesel, but its hard to accept still. that being said, whats a decent mileage count to start at?

Is the mega cab worth the extra price?

anything else i need to be aware of when buying a diesel, esp a pre owned?

thanks for any and all input.

You're in the same boat I was just in. The mileage on the engine isn't as important as how the truck was maintained and the condition of everything else. Being in a northern state rust was very important to me. I actually wanted an older pre-emissions truck. We have 3 kids and our oldest son is 15 and is 6'4. Our youngest son is 6 but is about an inch and a half taller than the 15 yr old at that age. 13 yr old daughter is tall for her age also. Point is....we placed a premium on room and the megacab is the reason for me to switch from gm to dodge.
We got an 06 megacab with 86k miles on it. Very clean inside and out. Just have to be patient and wait for the right truck. We also drove about 2 hours to get it so be willing to travel.
Good luck in your search and update the thread to let me know what you find.

Mega cab is great. Totally worth it. Ram boxes are a must for me.

If traveling with kids, a Mega Cab is unbeatable! I had 2 of them, and they were excellent rigs.
