Hello all. I'm glad to be here. I finally decided to get a 2014 ram 1500. She is my first truck and I absolutely love her. I drive ALOT so decided to go with the 3.6L v-6. Now I know what you are all going to say about the v6 but price and MPG won out. Plus I fell in love with her as soon as I set eyes on her. I have a couple questions.
1. Has anyone or know anyone who has put a cat back exhaust on their v6? I'm looking for better sound.
2. Also has anyone put a cold air intake in theirs? What kind if performance have they got?
3. What other kind of exterior upgrades to you recommend?

I know after market performance is limited for the V6 but I am curious to know what people have done and how it looks and sounds. I would appreciate serious responses. All I hear from people is how I should have gotten the hemi. It's to late now. All I need is some advise. Thanks

I'm not too sure what the exhaust set up is like with the V6, but with the Hemi the factory pipes are the same size as you'll get with a cat back. Just switch out the muffler IMO. I've heard AFE exhausts on the ecoboost and it sounds good for a 6 banger. Maybe check that out! As for a CAI, I don't know any for the V6. I'm sure there is something but I've never looked into it.

A lot of the V6 guys will put on the factory dual exhaust from the hemi's. So I would think aftermarket would still fit as well? Might have to do some cutting.

Or as XRS said, can put on factory for cheap (people sell them used for about $150), and then just swap a muffler.

As far as exterior upgrades.... There's a lot. Lights, debadging, decals, painting, rims, flares, stubby antenna or cut your antenna, tint, etc, etc etc

Welcome to the site and congratulations on the new truck!! And don't ever give it a second thought on the Hemi, you have the truck that is for you, done! You drive alot, and that engine is really good on gas, and way way cheaper than the eco diesel. Yes the eco is better on fuel, but by the time you even out the price from buying it, it will be many many miles.
The fact you fell in love with it at first site says it all, you have your truck:)
As for mods, you could tint the windows, and get a lockable tonnoue cover (Morrie from BAK - sponsor on here - is great, give him a call), and depending how much you wanna spend, if you don't have 20's, you could get some. Just some ideas.

First congrats! Sick truck. Glad you are happy. IMO, sorry, but if you opt for a v6 then you cannot ask about engine mods. You asked about CAI. Should have just went 5.7 if you want more gains. Hopefully I didn't come off wrong, not my intention. Enjoy your truck.

There's nothing wrong with putting a CAI on a V6. Guys do on the newer Mustangs all the time. They sound great, look kind of cool, and you may even get a couple more ponies out of it. I don't like the constant racket of a loud exhaust. So I can't help you with that.

I have the 3.6 in my Wrangler. Great engine. Plenty of power, and I can get 21 mpg, and I'm running slightly bigger tires and a small lift on the Jeep. <that's back and forth to work and into town and back. It doesn't do much better on the highway because of the poor aerodynamics.

I guess I'm really looking to have it sound better. Not really more performance. I could care less if it's faster.

I heard/seen a charger with a pentastar and a muffler delete. He went WOT in front of me taking off from a stop. No, it didnt sound like an 8, but it wasnt terrible either. At first i was like wtf is that, but once it wound up a bit it was aggressive.
Throw a magnaflow on there it would smooth it out, might sound decent...

I think Magnaflow makes systems for the 3.6 charger and challenger, go on youtube and listen to them. I know they make one for the new Cherokee, and it can be optioned with the new 3.2 V6, which is supposed to just be a smaller version of the 3.6, so would somewhat similar-ish.

You might have better luck going over to a jeep forum like jkowners and looking for performance mods / suggestions for 2012+ JK's. They come with the 3.6L v6. There are a lot of ppl putting cat back and CAI on them. Along with the Trinity or InTune.

I've also read that a lot of them are also just cutting out the muffler and running with just the resonators. IIRC there were some sound clips posted. Wish I could give more info, but I had an '08 with the pathetic 3.8L minivan motor.

Good luck.
