Hello everyone,
Last week I purchased my first truck (first vehicle- always driven the "family" car but now I graduated and have a full time job) and I am completely lost on how to properly clean my truck, with what supplies/cleaners/waxes/sealants to use, and how often I should use certain ones. I've been reading through these threads and got even more confused! I see so many of your trucks are immaculate and that's how I'd like to keep mine. It's been raining a lot here in South Florida so my truck has gotten really dirty, doesn't help that it has a dark paint (maximum steel). Could you please help me out as to which products to get and how often to use them? Thank you!

A lot of guys seem to like Adam's Products on here. I can't speak for them myself but I personally like to use a mixture of Meguiars and Mothers products. They've always done right by me. I like the Meguiars Ultimate line of products. I use that line of products for washing, polishing, detailing, and waxing. I use Mother's Back to Black on faded plastic trim, and I use Mothers Protectant for interior plastics and trim. I like the Protectant spray because it has a faint cherry smell and it leaves a nice matte shine on plastics and vinyl rather than a greasy shine like you'd see from Armor All.

Perform this cycle once or twice a year

1. Wash (Two Bucket Method)
2. Clay Bar
3. Polish
4. Wax

Claybarring takes off everything the eyes can't see. You may even wash again after using the claybar just to be sure everything is completely cleaned off. Don't want any particles left on the paint when you polish, and wax your truck.

In between major jobs that include clay bar you can hit your truck up with wash and wax every so often to keep things clean. You might even try a product called Fukken Wax that is sold on here. It's a nice stop gap between claying. Check the vendors section for details on that. JJ of the Retroshop should be able to help you.

A shiny one
Congrats on your first truck!

Take a little time and watch through our videos. We take a lot to time to make them to help you sift through all of the info out there in the world of detailing.

Adam's Instructional Videos

Cruise through those, then come back with specific questions that may come up.
