Bought a used engine with 58,000 miles to replace a engine with lifter and other issues with 137,000 miles. Thinking about replacing lifters to prevent issue in future. Any recommendations on lifters and possible cam. Also thinking about getting rid of MDS.

Any other things I should replace while I have the engine out?

Valve springs, exhaust manifold bolts, spark plugs since it’s the easiest thing to change while engine is out, thermostat and if it were me the idler/tensionors.

Have to pull the spark plugs anyway to pull the valve covers to pull the heads to replace the lifters lol.

Honestly if it's only got 58,000 original miles on the engine (should be good and tight) I'd leave it. Can always turn MDS off in the tune. Default position for the solenoids and lifters is off. Turn it off in the tune and it'll never turn on again unless you reenable it. Unless you're gonna cam it I wouldn't bother pulling the heads.

Recommendations on a good tuner? Was going to check the cam and lifters, if they had issues then replace.

Going to change plugs (Need recommendations)
Going to change thermostat
Going to change belt(s)
Going to inspect timing chain cover seal, since I had to replace mine before 90,000 miles
Going to look at all seals

Thinking about looking at throttle body spacers. Are they worth it?

Looks like this is my list so far:
  1. Spark Plugs
  2. Water Pump
  3. Serpentine idlers
  4. Serpentine Belt
  5. Exhaust Manifold Studs
  6. Thermostat
  7. Tuner!
Thank you all for the input. Can't wait for the engine to arrive!
