Need help with next purchase for the truck. It has come down to either S&B CAI or Carven 5" exhaust tip. I want hear the Hemi a little more then I do now.

So far have fitted a Gibson 3" in/out muffler to single in 3" to dual 2 1/4 to the stock dual exhaust. I also have the drop in K&N air filter panel in the factory box.

On my previous truck I had K&N Blackhawk CAI and it was too loud for the wife but my son loved the sound. I don't want to go with open system like the K&N again. So I figured maybe the Carven tips well help with a deeper note? Or will the S&B be better since it is a close system?

S&B will be quieter and not interrupt conversation or drown out your music under load the way the open top K&N does.

Tips will add a deeper note to your exhaust. You already have better flow and sound, its like tweaking what you have, not anything like the huge change between stock muffler and freee flowing muffler.

I'd go for 5" tips. I put some on mine after swapping out my muffler to a Borla Pro XS and it did make it slightly louder and deeper. So if you're looking to make a slight change to your exhaust tone, go with the tips...plus they look really nice.

Don't know much about the CAI, but they get mixed reviews as to whether they offer any advantage or not.

The S&B is really quiet. I only hear it when I am at wide open throttle and way up in the rev range. And even then it is nothing like the roar of a K&N.

The Carven tips did make my truck sound a bit deeper. Hard to tell though since my truck is pretty damn loud.

For more sound ONLY go w/ the 5" tips. For slight sound & a little better throttle response set the S&B.

The tips give the truck a louder/deeper tone

Thanks for the input. I think i'll buy both but which one first. I forgot the S&B will improve throttle responses as well. I could use that as the truck is kinda sluggish off the line and when trying to pass. These 35" tires made me slow all around but the traction is top notch.

Pedal Commander is what you need for the sluggish throttle response. Put one on my truck and it makes a huge difference in pedal response (depending where you have it set).

I have a Diablo tuner and it allows me to adjust the throttle booster. Currently I have it set to 5 and is better then stock. I think the CAI will help me a bit more.

If you do the tips, you should remove the resonators that are back there. That will help the sound some as well.

That is what I want to. Maybe save and wait a couple of months and do full cat back.

Does the Diablo allow you to adjust for the tire size? I've had 35s for a few years and it was definitely sluggish. A year ago I got the Pedal Commander and it helped a lot but it still wasn't quite right. Then a month ago I picked up the Rough Country Tire Size Calibrator and after calibration (and the transmission relearning a bit) things are almost perfect.

The Diablo allows you adjust the tire size and it really helps with transmission shift points. I would recommend a tuner.

Ok guys!

I bought the S&B CAI and love it. It gave the truck a deeper tone but I also dropped the idle by 100rpm and it sounds old school

The throttle response is alot better and when it is load it sounds awesome. Gain about 1 mpg with a muffler, CAI, tuner while running 35".

The Pedal Commander and your tuner will compliment each other. The PC has 32 different settings you can use and you can change the setting on the fly. The PC with the other mod's that you already have will make a world of difference and I think you'll be surprised at the trucks increased responsiveness.

I have a jay Greene tune on my truck with full bolt ons. Throttle response is way better than stock. I can only imagine if a pedal commander can add more responsive throttle.
