Hello Everyone,

Before I get into my questions, here is a quick history of my truck

I own a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 8.0L V10 Magnum that has done almost 150,000km.

In 2004 the truck started mixing oil and water and alot of things got changed. Ever since this problem the truck hasn't been shifting gears properly. Then the car was parked from 2005 till 2010 and until today it has been used regularly.

My issues with it now is that the car hasn't got the power of a V10 engine. A little car can run pass me even if I am on full throttle.

The gear is taking a lot of time to change. It reaches up to 80 km/h to change into 2nd gear and when it does that it does it aggressively like someone slammed into you.

Most recently the car has been turning off after I start it. If it has been parked all night and start it the next morning it will start fine. If I start it and drive then park, turn it off and turn it on again it will start but will turn off right away . Mostly it does this in cold weather. I have replaced the Idle Control Valve. It ran perfectly the 1st week, even the rpm rose but now its back to square one.

Please help me, Every mechanic is telling me a different story and Ive spent lots of money trying to fix it!

I don't know anything about the V10, but are you throwing any codes?

It only shows the TPS

TPS is an important input for the PCM. You maybe running in limp mode. Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes touching the cables together and then reconnecting. This will reset the PCM. Clear the code and see if it'll reset.

But could it be that the Throttle Position sensor needs replacement? because I've just read a link about TSP and all the symptoms that require a TPS change are the same symptoms I have in my truck!

Absolutely, what I suggested is to reconfirm the bad TPS by having it reset the code after being cleared.
