I have a 2005 dodge ram 1500 with the 5.7 hemi and 4wd. I just recently had the engine rebuilt and I put it back in the truck myself. Truck run and drives great but I haven’t had gauges except for when I unhook the battery and let all the systems drain. The reverse lights haven’t worked the whole time. The truck also stopped running and would not crank or start while driving in the rain. It would start after it sat for a while and I would assume dried off. I have cleaned all grounds and checked for corroded wires and connections. I’m lost at this point.

For the not running in rain, it sounds like something didn't get installed properly, like a shield or fender well, or maybe the fuse box is not sealed properly. Maybe the front air dam underneath is missing or the lower splash guard. I am going off my 2003 2500 I had, so maybe a bit different. Could also be a relay, can't remember what it is called but something like auto shut off relay, which can prevent starting and then disconnecting battery can temporarily reset it. Could also be the ignition relay, with same thing where a disconnect of the battery resets.

The reverse lights, maybe the shifter isn't contacting correctly. Not sure about gauges, but think again a relay could cause them to freeze up and then battery disconnect resets.

I think I figured it out, the rain had nothing to do with it, it was a throttle body fault that can cause the cluster and no start condition. I haven’t fixed it yet but I spoke to a dodge mechanic about it and he confirmed the diagnosis. Still don’t know about the reverse lights
